In Short – True to its name, this eatery has a sultry decor and a daring menu. Decorated in black then accented with red tiling, bare brick and hip light fixtures, the restaurant lets it all hang out with its open kitchen. Owners Valerie Safran and Chef Marcie Turney modernize Mexican cuisine with house specialties like grilled salmon with applewood-smoked bacon, chipotle-garlic grilled beef tenderloin and soft corn tortillas with orange-glazed pork.

TERRIBLE SERVICE

The food at Lolita is reasonably good. However, I will not be returning to this restaurant ever again because I have had terrible experiences with the service. On my most recent trip to the restaurant, we heard the host apologizing to people about the long wait, referring to our table as "the problem". He claimed we had been at the restaurant for many hours when it had actually been about 1.5 hours. When we confronted the host, he was incredibly nasty. Waiters are also usually unfriendly at this restaurant. Overall, TERRIBLE SERVICE, would not recommend Lolita. Try eating at El Vez across the street!

THE PUBLIC DOESN'T LIE!!!!!!!

Our situation is similar to that of chatty83. We also made a reservation (with a very rude and impatient man over the phone) but ended up arriving ten minutes early. Well, it took everything in her, the owner, not to kick us out. "What do you expect me to do?" she barked, "kick someone out?". We weren't expecting ANY special treatment, we were just checking in and were more than happy to wait. But we didn't. We had dinner at AMADA, again, and thoroughly enjoyed the rest of our evening. We happen to know a few employees of this monster and she not only owns Lolita; she also owns Bindi, Open House, Verde, Grocery and the soon-to-be mediterranean eatery next door to Verde. Why do people support these two tyrants? They too will go the path of Neil Stein... By the way, i was forced to give a rating. If it were up to me, i would have given nothing.

BIG DISAPPOINTMENT

We had a reservation here and we got stuck in traffic and had a hard time parking. We tried to call but the message said that they were not answering calls until later. We told this to the woman who told us that she gave our table away. We pleaded with her that it was my 20th wedding anniversary and could she please make an exception. She was rude and smug! She would not budge a bit. Even if she said it would be a little bit we would have waited. I WILL NEVER EAT HERE. Instead we walked down to CHIFA and had an INCREDIBLE meal!! She was such a b*tch. I understand her position but she didn't have to be so rude about it!
