Editorial Review for Lolita – by Laura Zaborowski

In Short
True to its name, this eatery has a sultry decor and a daring menu. Decorated in black then accented with red tiling, bare brick and hip light fixtures, the restaurant lets it all hang out with its open kitchen. Owners Valerie Safran and Chef Marcie Turney modernize Mexican cuisine with house specialties like grilled salmon with applewood-smoked bacon, chipotle-garlic grilled beef tenderloin and soft corn tortillas with orange-glazed pork.

the experience was wonderful. we went on a friday night at 6pm because we were afraid of the "wait" times people say this place is worth...we were seated immediately and ordered the bloood orange margarita mix immediately. delcious! for apps we ordered the guacamole and the tamal...it was like being in heaven..the guacamole and chips were so much better than anywhere i have ever been and put el vez across the street to shame. being mexican, moving here from texas recently and growing up on this food i was estactic to find this place. for entrees we had the salmon and veggie enchiladas. the salmon was perfect the enchiladas had a little too much mushroom for my taste but i wouldn't say it spoiled the meal at all. the service was great. we took our time and the waiter never made us feel rushed. i will go back again and again and again. order the guacamole and tamal apps you'll be glad you did.

Pros: food & drink mixes are delicious

Cons: that they don't take reservations on weekends...
