Good Spot. This is a great place to hang out if you like craft beers and good food, but don't like the attitude that usually comes with them. The bar and waitstaff are fun, and the fare is relatively cheap considering the quality. It's definitely worth a look if you're in the neighborhood.

overall very good. This place has character. The food is solid and interesting and they don't try to do too much. The white chili w/housemade cornbread is tasty. Burgers are good as well. They also care about beer and carry interesting craft brews that other places don't have. Always good music playing as well. The service is sometimes aloof as they seem to be cultivating a hipster vibe but it isn't aweful and with everything else they have going, the service doesn't get in the way.

Unimpressive. We heard great things about this place, but the food was just disappointing. We tried the Good Dog Burger, and it was not very tasty. For one, it was small, and although the cheese in the middle was a cool idea, it made it impossible to cook the burger evenly. There were basically no toppings on the burger, either. I'm not sure what the big fuss was about. The fries were poorly cooked (it's been a while, I can't remember whether they were limp or burned, but it was one of those) and poorly seasoned. We got the salad with goat cheese, cranberries, and vanilla dressing, and it was a bit lackluster. The flavors just didn't go together. Also, be aware: the large salad is HUGE. Like, enough to feed a family.

We won't be going back.

Loooooong waits.. I love the food here. The sweet potato fries are awesome. The Good Dog Burger is so good - oooh just thinking about it makes me want one right now. The beer selection is great - the problem is how long you have to wait for one. Now, in a small place like this, things can get tight and waits for a table are the norm. But what I cannot abide is waiting with an empty beer glass perched at the edge of the table, only to wait for an even longer amount of time after the server asks if I want a refill. It takes less than thirty seconds to pour a beer. And I'm not chugging down six pints in a sitting, people. I go to this place frequently and the long waits for beer refills happen every time. I am happy this cool bar is always busy and making its profits. But why on earth is there never mroe than two servers working the whole lower floor?

Good Dog Burger. I dream about the Good Dog Burger with fries -- a blend of sweet and white potatoes: so delicious! The burger is always cooked to specification and is just juicy and meaty...mmmm. They have a good selection of beers and the waitstaff are very amiable (and always busy!). One of my favourite places.

Old school restaurant and bar serves up pub grub in a chill, laid back atmosphere.. In Short:
We'll leave the canine puns behind (it's just too easy) and simply state that Good Dog is a good place to go when hankering for a tasty burger, draft beer or convivial conversation at the bar. The mahogany pub exudes an inevitable hangout vibe, where meeting up with old friends is the order of the day. (Photo courtesy: M. Kennedy for GPTMC)

VERY RUDE, NOT WORTH IT!!!. I went in with several other friends to have a couple of drinks and then head our way to another bar. We sat and ordered our drinks from our waitress who was prompt with our drinks and gave us no problems. However 2 rounds later we were told that another group had come in "who actually wanted to eat" and they wanted us to leave so they could have our table. We paid our bill (plus 20+% tip) and were finishing up our last round, when a waiter approached us again saying we had to get up "other people need to sit here, plus, you didn't tip well". Hey, I may be the only person, but I think its pretty rude to kick out paying customers and then mention a tip that was over sufficient. The restaurant wants your money and then move on to the next person who will give them money. I WILL NEVER GO THERE AGAIN! Being a waitress in the city myself, I would never kick paying customers out of one of my tables, and then complain about my tip, even if it was 5%! IT'S JUST RUDE!

The Good Dog Burger Rocks!. What a great time we all had. The juke box was playing these old rap songs from NWA and Curtis *low. We each ordered the Good Dog burger that was packed with roqueford cheese in the middle. It was so awesome. I'm not a burger person, either. I may have one burger a year on 4th of July. But Good Dog bar is the exception! Craig La Ban was right: this is the best burger in Philly. I wish the boothes were a little bit roomier, though. And the waitress would rather seat you when your entire party has arrived. I can totally understand because I used to be a waitress so that doesn't bother me. You've got to give this place a try if you haven't already.

My Favorite. This is one of my favorite bars in Philly. The staff is great. The food, especially the burgers are very good. They have a great jukebox and a good beer selection.
