RUDE OWNER. What a shame this place is owned by such a rude and unprofessional woman. Food was good, waitress was great however she was very on edge and seemed scared of the owner! We had a group dinner there and we were told our table was talking too loud, that we can't order dressing on the side and that they did us a favor by accepting our reservation! OMG...attitude and drama not worth the price as Philly has far too many wonderful BYOBs that are more professionally managed. Avoid the angry lady!

Amazing Service, Decor and Food. August provides an intimate and well decorated atmosphere for casual dining. The food deserves recognition and the service is great. Our waitress was very attentive and always with a smile. The owners welcomed us in with great conversation, providing a homey feel that can only be found in South Philly. We quickly became part of the family at this reasonably priced BYO. Be sure to check it out.

GREAT service, best porkchop ever. After trying to get reservations here for 2 weeks, I finally got a table. The place is so cute and well decorated, so it made a great first impression. Not to mention we were greeted by very friendly staff. The menu looked great, I had a pork chop special that I was told used to be on the menu- IT WAS SO GOOD! My dining partner had the rigatoni bolognese, which was also very good. But I think that my pork chop was honestly the best pork chop I have ever tasted- ever. For dessert we had the banana bread pudding- very yummy. My date and I were the last people to leave the restaurant, and instead of being rushed out, we chatted for about an hour with the owners and staff. It was one of the best dining experiences I have ever had. I would recommend this place to anyone for the great food and also the exceptional service.

One of the Best BYOB's in the City!. My friends and I ate here at this delightful restaurant for "Dining Out For Life",where the staff is very accomodating. They keep the menu simple with choices of pasta, seafood, and steak, with a nice assortment of delicious desserts. The atmosphere is elegant and cozy, great for a date or just being out with friends. I'd recommend this place to anyone!

Best South Philly BYOB. August continually makes my mouth water. Absolutely everything and anything I yearn to have is on the menu and when it arrives, it tastes delicious, looks inviting and has you wanting to devour your own entree and both of your neighbors' selections. The wait staff is experienced, sociable, and attentive. The chef handles the demands of her busy dining room with ease and expertise. The hostess gracefully handles all clients with hospitable, friendly charm even when there is a lot going on. I live in the neighborhood. I frequent restaurants all over the city. I am a restauranataholic. I choose August once a week and it has never disappointed. Whether you are a BYOB junkee, a fine diner, or a dessert gourmet, this is the place to make your favorite hangout.

Good potential, but EXTREMELY POOR service!!. I was disappointed with August. We had 9:30 reservations on Saturday night (4/26) We arrived at 9:20 and the hostess told us it would be a few minutes for a table. No big deal- the hostess was very sweet! She called us in at 9:45 and our 2 friends had not arrived yet. Not 5 minutes after we sat down, our waitress- a different woman- was pressuring us as to their whereabouts. She was very rude and said that if they did not arrive by 10 they would not be able to serve us. I tried to place an order for an appetizer for the table, and she told us that the chef would not do that since the rest of our group had not arrived yet. Our friends arrived 10 minutes after we sat down and the waitress was still rude! If you are accepting 9:30 reservations, you have to be flexible with a 10pm kitchen closure. Especially on a Saturday night! It?s not unheard of to wait 20 min for a table- even if you do have a reservation! The menu was small, but everything looked great. However, I was surprised that they did not have entree specials. Our food was delicious, but the experience was ruined by extremely poor service. Throughout our meal, we noticed other patrons drinking limoncello. We ordered dessert and asked if they had limoncello. Our rude waitress told us ?Yes, but it has to be offered to you.? RUDE! I can think of several other ways to POLITELY tell us it?s not available. I would never go back and I would not recommend it to anyone. The food was good, but our waitress needs to learn some manners! I would feel terrible if a friend received the same poor and untactful service as we did. I hope that the management takes note of this review and reevaluates some of their policies. This tiny restaurant is off the beaten path and word of mouth can be a great advertisement. In this case, there are tons of restaurants in South Philly that are much more accommodating and happy to serve their patrons.

SPECTACULAR FOOD!!!!!!! DO NOT MISS THIS BYO. August is one of the citys great treasures. I almost hate giving a review because then I won't be able to get in once the peeps start flocking. However I can NOT help but post that these two women turn out the MOST deliscoious food in a beautiful atmosphere. There is a reason they are one or only 1000 top Italian resturants in THE USA!!!! DO NOT MISS THIS WONDERFUL PLACE. YOU WON'T BE ABLE TO STOP COMING.

Skip This BYOB. I recently dined at August with my wife and four friends and we had a great evening among ourselves and our wine until the end. We were told by the owner that our group was being ?annoying? and were told to be quiet. Enjoying the company of friends and fine wines is apparently not allowed within August BYOB. It surprised me that they allowed another table to sing Happy Birthday to a guest, but it turned out the guest was the chef. This small piece of information alone suggests that the owner is hypocritical at best and arrogant at worst for telling our group that we were being loud and annoying while they sing Happy Birthday at the top of their lungs. What my group finds annoying are small BYOB owners who think they are hot shots. We also find small BYOB owners who think they are hot shots and produce bad food annoying. Selections we found unappetizing were the overcooked pork chop with oily broccoli rabe, tilapia overpowered with lemon and the self proclaimed Italian restaurant overcooking bowtie pasta. I have a few suggestions for the hot shot owner. First, she should enroll her chef in some cooking classes. If you are overcooking pasta in an Italian restaurant there is something wrong. Second, she should enroll herself in some basic business etiquette courses. She seems to have forgotten that her patrons keep her doors open and when she continues insulting them the doors will eventually be closed for good. It also slipped her mind that word of mouth travels fast. Six individual?s negative opinion of anything will multiply dramatically over time. She may have gotten mediocre reviews in the past, but eventually worse reviews will follow mine with statements such as "the stale menu and dark and drab interiors will be the last thing served at this restaurant". Good luck and we will not see you again.

P.S. Our server was excellent and we Philadelphians take care of each other even if they do work for bad people.
