Editorial Review for Matyson – by Lauren McCutcheon
In Short
Neutral tan-and-white walls, closely spaced bistro tables and minimal decor allow customers to focus on the food. The kitchen churns out eclectically fused American cuisine, such as crispy polenta fritters topped with forest mushrooms. Entrees include a pork chop over herb-enriched spaetzle noodles with sherry mustard cream. The pastry chef/owner offers profiteroles, lemon souffle tart, bread pudding and homemade coffee and toffee ice cream for dessert.

I'm not a fan of Matyson's chef. The menu is too small, first of all. I ordered a sandwich and the only flavors I could discern were salt and grease. If I want that I can get fast food and pay less. Overpriced and overrated, I say.
Pros: good lemonade
Cons: everything else

I've eaten lunch here a few times. The menu is somewhat creative, but in the end, the food just isn't very good. The sandwich I ordered last time was way too greasy. There are lots of great places in center city -- this just isn't one of them.
Pros: Good location
Cons: The food
