Don't Let the Strip Mall Location Fool You.... El Cancun II is a comfortable place to go. It has great, friendly service. Its important to realize that this isn't tex-mex its mexican food, and its delicious -- take it from a native Texan. The salsa is the best I've found since being up here in PA. It has a nice spice and is fresh. The mexican rice is absolutely perfect, very well seasoned. And perhaps my favorite thing is the enchiladas -- any kind -- the sauce atop of them is amazing!! The menu has a great selection with something for everyone and with the portion size, the price is nice. I clean my plate everytime I go, which is at least twice a month, but you should judge for yourself!

Too bland to be worth it anymore.. I've gone here approximately 6 times over the past year, always for lunch, as the "Mexican food" choice when I grow tired of the usual lunch spots. But at this point, I think i'm done going here - the food is just too tasteless to be worthwhile. I'm not talking about the level of "heat" necessarily (although, I haven't found much of that either), but any sort of depth of flavor, which Mexican food is known for.

I've tried burritos, enchiladas, rellenos and tamales, and they've all lacked any sort of flavor complexity. The last beef burrito I had, for instance, tasted like nothing more than browned beef in a tortilla - if there was any sort of spice or flavoring applied, I couldn't tell. On top of that, it was only covered in white queso, which has little taste. I'm not a fan of supermarket Mexican preparations, but honestly, those have more flavor than this place puts out. I've spent a lot of time in the mountain west, so I'm pretty well-versed in what even a basic Mexican-American "burrito & enchilada" place should taste like, and this ain't it.

The service has always been fine - sometimes friendly, sometimes uninterested. The decor is nice - festive.

In short, if you're absolutely dying for a Mexican meal, then fine - but I wouldn't expect much.
