What happened?

Oh, Avalon what happened to you? You were once one of my favorite restruants but last Saturday's dining experience was one of the worst I ever had.
First, I asked for a quiet table. I spent the evening yelling at my husband because it was so loud.
Second, service, our server was never around and our order took a very long time. I asked others for him but no one could seem to find him.
Third, food. My husband ordered a Organic salad ($9) which equated to 3 or 4 pieces of salad and some sprouts. I ordered the Caprise Salad ($8) which had more because it had cheese. For the main course my husband ordered the black and white ravoli ($24) which was 4 ravoli and I ordered the Salmon ($18) which was two very slender slices of salmon and NO VEGETABLES. There were no side vegetables to order on the menu. We did not have dessert, mostly out of frustration.
I have not ever reviewed a restaurant before but we were so unhappy and I felt others needed to know.
- Cons: Loud, poor service, not a good value
Just ok

We went because of the prix fixe menu. 4 courses for $27 and I got an email coupon for $10 off, so you just can't beat that. Sat outside which is a lovely patio. Service is slow (which we like) and very friendly. The crab in the appetizer and ravioli was very fishy and watery, tasted canned or frozen. Definitely NOT lump crab as stated. The agnolotti were very good. Salmon was overcooked, but pork shoulder was very, very tasty. Overall, stay away from the seafood, but everything else was tasty. Wouldn't go back, but I think for the price, if you're willing to order wisely, it's not bad.
- Pros: Great service, nice atmosphere
- Cons: Some food was excellent, some was terrible
Always a Dining Pleasure

I have been to Avalon numerous times and would recommend it to anyone. It is rare to find a restaurant which such outstanding food and service that is also a good value. My idea of the perfect evening includes taking a bottle of my favorite bottle of Pinot Noir to Avalon for a memorable meal!
- Pros: Attentive Staff, Fabulous Fare and an Awesome Patio!
