Only a local sports bar?. A new friend moved into town so I took him to what I thought was supposed to be the best sports bar in Philly to watch the NCAA Men's Basketball Semi-finals. When we arrived there was really bad and loud house music playing in all three bars of the restaurant and we asked is there was one area where we could hear the games, we were told that they only put the sound on the games when a local team in Philly is playing, which is not my idea of a good sports bar. Waitress was great and crowd was interesting, but food is mediocre and it seemed more like a factgory trying to turn over tables than cater to sports fans.
Good and Bad. Happened across Chickie and Petes during sporting event. Drinks very good, service very good and physical atmosphere, including TVs good on this stop. If youre in to eat, you will be sadly disappointed. We have been back and very disappointed in the food. During a recent lunch trip I ate at the bar and got a cheese steak and fries. Lunch was delivered in about three minutes and it tasted like it had been waiting for me for about an hour. Fries were indistinguishable from lukewarm cardboard and cheese steak was sopped in a roll and served without silverware. Bartender acted as though he was doing me a favor waiting on me. I'm from AC and this place reminded me of why AC failed in the 70s. C & Ps could be great if they would pay attention to the food and stop treating customers like one-time tourists.
Best in Philly. Bar none this bar/restaurant is the very best sports bar in Philly. With plenty of TVs and bartenders who know when to refill, I enjoy my time spent here after a game moreso than any other. It's inexpensive and the beer is always cold. Need I say more? I brought a friend from out-of-state to Chickie's in the stadium area and he enjoyed it tremendously. There are other establishments that top my list, but this one gets my vote for Philly's most fun. If you like to park it up at the bar or sit at a table surrounded by your friends enjoying a tower (or two) of beer, you'll have a great time.
Best bar to go to before an Eagles game!. With their tower of beer and a bus ride to the game, Chickie & Pete's is my favorite place to go before an Eagles game. We show up at 11:00 when they start serving beer and before there is a cover charge and enjoy some delicious crabbie fries before the game starts.
