Killer locally owned alternative to Chipotle and other build-a-burrito chains. The spicy beef and chorizo are both excellent meat options; get two of each as hard tacos, or both mixed in a burrito.
The Place to Go. This is the place to go if you want an incredibly good quality but well-priced mexican food. The people are very nice and are willing to build your burrito or Quesadilla to the perfect specifications. The food is amazing for the price, I would pay 10 dollars for a burrito, although it is only 6. If you want a place where you get awesome mexican food for a modest price, go to El Fuego.
mean people. Went there three times cuz it is Mexican and in the neighborhood of my job. After three times, no more. The people behind the counter clearly hate there job and are way rude. Woman behind me asked for Guac and the woman behinsd the counter rolled her eyes and pointed down. I guess she was saying they were out of it and it was too much for her to saay sorry we are out of it. also, they three the tacos together in the worst possible way to make it as incredible difficult to eat as possible. Wont be going back.
ugh. spicy beef burrito quite unsatisfying, beef tastes baaad. good pico de galla though.
Best Burrito!.
I went there for the first time 3 months ago and cant get enough. Now there is one at 21st and Chestnut and they have a full liquor license with great frozen margarittas!
I think the place is great!
Not so nice.. Very low quality meat served at this joint, as well as rude service, perhaps the owner is all about himself and not about satisfying the customer. Servers should be trained to be professional, serve with a smile and lose the attitude. The prices are high for the food quality and service. Tip-be careful about ordering guacamole on anything, it's about $3.00 extra and they do not tell you that!
Food and staff were great. Dicovered el fuego a few months ago. A bit small but those guys pump out those burritos like an assembly line. All the staff has always been polite and nice to me. I've never had any issues with that staff. They are a bit abrupt during the lunch rush bit that's how they serve so many.
My new favorite place..... I found this place walking up Chestnut Street about 3 weeks ago and have been there about 5 times already. The atmosphere is super cool and the staff is awesome nice. My husband and I really enjoyed the tasty quesidillas while listening to "The Roots". It was seriously the coolest place and can make the perfect cheap date. Apparently they have other locations but the one I visit is between 21st and 22nd Chestnut Street
Great food at affordable prices. I was recently found this spot while on vacation in Philly. The food and the service were great. The burritos were delicious and the music and atmosphere were great. The staff could not have been nicer, especially Pete, who was adorable and very friendly.
cool atmosphere, tasty burritos, nice staff. I was very surprised to hear previous reviews bad mouth this dimly lit little house of heavenly tastes. I've been going there for 3 years now and have never found the staff to be rude or unlikeable. I play soccer with the manager, who's moving on to the new place in the Rittenhouse area and is really excited about how cool it should be. The other guys are always good for a nice hello, some bantering, or chit-chat about a game playing on tv. I go there pretty often to watch soccer matches and grab some tasty food. Good chorizo or steak burritos. Guac is to die for and chips are nicely salted (you have to pay extra for them, but so worth it). Order up a Negro Modelo or Pacifico and relax with a bunch of friends at a table - can't think of a more chill and easy meal. Definitely a step up from Qdoba because of better quality ingredients and spices, plus they have yummy Jarritos outside of the normal fountain sodas. Rumor has it the new place has a full liquor license and will be serving frozen margaritas from a slurpy machine! And if you prefer to eat outside the shop, which can get really busy around lunch time during the week, then take your taste-explosion out to Washington Sq for a meal under the sycamores. Try it out and I hope you won't be as disappointed as the previous reviewers.
Fat Guy with Glasses Ruined it for Me.
MediaSavant couldn't be more RIGHT!!!
I liked the chorizo quesadilla's, but every time I went there, usually after work at night, the fat guy with glasses would GAWK at my chest. It would've been uncomfortable had he not been such a lump of a guy. He could only wish to get his paws on these puppies. But without fail, while ringing me up, his eyes would be fixed on my chest. A few times I dined in and would catch him gawking at me while pretending he was futzing with his iPod. It was cute, but scummy and I finally got sick it because it only got worse. So I just stopped going. I hear el Fuego is opening a new place, which I'll visit so long has that guy doesn't work there.
