Editorial Review for Ten Stone Bar & Restaurant – by Elisa Ludwig
In Short
The past's extensive renovation wrought a modern-feeling British pub with exposed brick and manila-envelope colored walls, strategically placed candles and wooden tables. The front room is the main bar, with windows overlooking the street. The back room hosts a pool table and dartboard, as well as a very English stone fireplace. There's comfort and coddling for all comers with 15 beers on tap, including local microbrews as well as some Euro favorites, and a menu of simple but upscale pub fare.

Go there for the beer. It is a great little local pub. The beer selection is large and frequently changing. I love beer, and if you love beer (Miller Lite drinkers stay home) and darts, go. The beer prices always leave me happy. Some pubs try to charge exorbitant amounts for local microbrews, but Ten Stone knows that this is heresy. Local should be affordable for the locals. They execute this well, and when paired with its food, the night is complete. Typical pub fare done right. Do not go for a gourmet meal. But if you like variety for a reasonable price and good beers to go along with it, this is the place.
Pros: Beer menu is seasonal
Cons: Dart board can get too crowded

We've been here multiple times, each time thinking that maybe we came on a bad-food day. Not so. Everything we tried has been average or very disappointing, i.e. bland chicken sandwiches, Gordon's fish sticks are way better than their fish and chips - fish was overfried and dry (fries are ok), cold obvious-Gardenburger veggie burgers, etc. I haven't had their beef burgers, but they are the one thing that looks promising. Ordered Belgian beer from the tap and it came in an 8 oz. wine glass, which is very a-typical and cheap, considering you pay the same or less at Grace Tavern for similar beers and for a full serving. It's a shame that this places misses on a couple key things, since it's a nice inside and the outdoor seating is a plus. If you go here, I recommend sticking with regular food that's hard to screw up, like burgers and salads, and steering clear from Belgian beer on tap.
