The Scene
Trimmed in mini pinatas, Day of the Dead dioramas, bright paper garlands and strands of jalapeno lights, this dimly lit, 22-seat corner eatery is as tricked out as a Tex-Mex fiesta. MTV Espagnol plays on a TV overhead while diners order by number--and bring their own tequila or Corona.
The Food
Red and white homemade chips with medium-hot salsa make a nice, plain, affordable starter. For a few dollars more, cilantro-tinged fish tacos are fresh and tasty, and dense grilled chorizo tastes like Mexican Independence Day. Also recommended: the corn husk wrapped jumbo turkey tamale, a nicely crisped chimichanga of the day, and a burrito of roast pork, black bean and sweet plantain for its mix of sweet, sour and salty.

I ordered a Chicken Quesadilla... noticed that it only came with cheese & chicken so I asked for them to add some peppers and onions in addition to a side of Guac. The bill came and the waitress doubles the price of the Chicken Quesadilla. Seven Dollars on the menu she added an additional Seven Dollars for the side of guac. & veggies... The food was gross & service VERY disappointing...

Seated a party of 10 (including myself) late in the evening very quickly and w/o reservations. the staff was very friendly, funny, and accommodating. some might call the place tiny, others may describe it as cozy. i dig the dia de los muertos decor and other mexican paraphernalia, including prints of Frida Kahlo self-portraits in the restroom (a little creepy, but still cool). good, basic mexican fare that was not disappointing. will definitely be going back.

The gals who work there are most likely all students...yeah they aren't the greatest servers, but if you want great service go to Tequila's or El Vez and spend an arm and a leg. My friends and I go here all the time. Many of them are vegetarian/vegan and the waitresses and cook staff try their best to accomadate. The last trip the waitress actually went back to the kitchen twice to ask if certain entrees were veg. The chips are great. The margaritas are awesome. The decor is hysterical. The food is always excellent even if we wait arround asking for the bill or a fork. Don't listen to all the whiny brats.....however dont go here if you are claustrophobic or on a first date!
