So dissatisfied with their service and attitude.
by Zowie at Citysearch
Duafe, the worse experience I've had in a long time. The attitude of their receptionist, ms. nephatelie (excuse the spelling) was horrible. I did not like the way I was treated after waiting six weeks to get my hair done. I was so excited about going, only to be disappointed. All I can say is Iwill never go back there and I know never is to absolute, but you can bet your bottom dollar I will never go there again, and I will not recommend any of my friends to go. Next time remember you are a place of business, and sometimes businesses grow by word of mouth. sorry you lost this client.
We have moved!

HORRIBLE SERVICE!!!

First of all, they're website has they're old address listed n u need a consultatiion before u make an appt so I walked a VERY long time on thu only to find out I went to the wrong address,(I walked because one of the buses septa told me to take was no longer there) however, they still let me schedule for this morning since I gone thru all that trouble (it was so far that I had to take a cab back)...ffwd to this mornin, have an appt 9am accordin to various sources only an hour travel to the new location left 745am, didn't get first bus til 830 second bus just as bad, needless to say I was an hour late, but finally on the same block as the hair salon get a call saying the lady is booked for the day n she's just not gonna do my hair cuz I'm late...R U FCKIN kiddin me?! So basically they told me to take my a$$ back home. By the way, the hair dresser who wouldn't do my hair after all of that stress is TIA. I don't care about her skill level, what she did was extremely RUDE to a first time customer. But I'm fed up so I don wanna give them my money no way, they call again sayin someone else will do it, I'm stranded, tired, irritated n my hair is wild I had to go back, so they did my hair then charged $95, after all that ish(i have locs, charging $95 is on the high end, like u better b my one and only if i plan on payin over$100 includin tip...(Its good, but not that good) so I tipped a 5 actually 6 cuz I found another dollar in my purse, but I regret the tip thats how deep it is right now... (PS - apparently its not even 3510 scotts lane, its 3502 scotts lane - at the end of the day - WAS NOT WORTH ALL THAT STRESS!)
- Pros: hair is done
- Cons: rude stylists!
Lack of professionalism, but I love my hair!

I wanted to like Duafe, I really did. The online appointment booking, the great communication when it came to my appointment...all things that made me hope they were on their toes. Although I have to admit the incorrect prices listed on the web site did give me pause.
On the day of my appt the salon called to let me know there was a water main break on the street. The caller was very helpful and informative in letting me know another way to get to the salon. Again, I was thrilled with the attention to detail.
My appt was at 10:15am, so I arrived at the salon at 10:00. Gave the receptionist my name and time of appt, she asked if I could take a seat. Again, everything was fine up until this point.
A 1/2 hour later and I'm still sitting, waiting. No one said anything more to me..
An hour later and again...no one told me anything and I'm still waiting.
An hour and 15 minutes later the stylist comes over, apologizes for running late and ask if I'm ready to get my hair washed. I would of appreciated someone telling me this early on into my appt time…I’m sure the fact that they were running more than an hour behind time did not come as a surprise. Again, the lack of communication came into play when it came to washing my hair. Neither the stylist or the receptionist mentioned that all they had to wash hair with was cold water. Apparently the water main break hindered the ability to produce hot water however, I didn’t know this until the water hit my head.
During conversation with the stylist I was told they were running late because the previous client had wanted color. Which in my opinion with the time it takes to do locs, anything not on the books should be handled at a later appt to not back the stylist up. If the appt was on the books with the client getting color, the timing should of been adjusted.
Finally after my cold wash I get my hair twisted and rod set, which by the way went perfectly. (did I mention I love my hair?!)
So, under the dryer to wait until my hair dried…in the meantime the stylist was doing another head. (about an hour or so passes)
After that person was finished the stylist placed them next to me. After checking both dryers and adding more time to mine the stylist says…”I’ll be back” and walks out. Walks out the door.
Again, I’m waiting….and waiting.
I look at my watch and realize that the stylist has been gone at least 40 mins or so. It’s now around 2:30 and I’m contemplating asking someone else to see if my hair is dry and to take out the rods. I’ve been at the salon since 10am and had other errands to do.
Luckily the stylist comes in 10 mines later and checks the dryer. Oh, not MY dryer, the person who was here since 10AM but the other dryer. Finishes up the other client, they leave and then the stylist comes to me to check my hair.
Honestly at this point I don’t care if my hair is dry on not, I have to leave. I ask to please just take out the rods.
I sit in the stylist chair, they remove the rods, they ask if I want the locs separated. I decline anything further, pay my bill and leave.
The appointment was frustrating in regard that they never informed me of what was going on. That the stylist was running more than an hour late, that they had little to no hot water. The stylist leaving for at least 45 mins and never mentioning they were leaving. Helping other clients leave before helping the client that had been there the longest.
My appt was at 10:15am and I did not leave the salon until 3:20pm...way to long in my book. I had no issue with the price as I do love my hair however, the lack of communication, timing and professionalism leaves something to be desired though.
- Pros: Best wash in town
- Cons: Rough around the edges

Although the shop is good in general, It can be a challenge getting a timely appointment with the better stylists. The shampooing and conditioning services are heaven. I actually fell asleep a couple of times. The only complaint I have is that I arrived on time for my appointment. I wasn't told until the young lady walked up to me to introduce herself that the person with whom I had the appt with WOULDN"T be doing my hair. She was in the shop but busy. Hmmm, I think the professional thing to do was for her to speak to me directly and explain the situation giving me the choice of rescheduling or having someone else do my hair. I'm very picky about who does my hair since I like it a certain. In the end I was extremely happy with the outcome and am now going to the new stylist for all my services. I just feel it could've been handled better.
- Pros: Wonderful natural hair care
- Cons: Appointments
