Stay away from Philadelphia Management

by trainer42in at Citysearch

I haven't had the greatest experience with Philadelphia Management.

When searching for an apartment in 'Adelphia' (1229 Chestnut Street), the agent would always rush us around.

The staff is not very polite/courteous. I was actually shouted at in front of others, because I had supposedly not submitted the documents on a particular date. When i reminded the agent that she was mistaking me for someone else and I had already submitted my documents on time, she was humbled down...but still no apologies were forthcoming.

Since this happened even before i signed the lease and became a tenant, it makes me wonder how i would be treated once i signed the lease and become a 'bonded tenant'.

Oh by the way, if anybody from Philadelphia Management is reading this, the woman agent im talking about sits in the same office as Kathy (Manager).

On signing the lease, there are clauses that state:

1) Tenant will have to pay $250 as a fine for breaking the lease and has to give 2 months notice before leaving. However if we(Philadelphia Mgmt) cannot find a new tenant for your apartment when you leave at the end of 2 months, you will have to continue to pay the rent till we get a new tenant !!!

Whats the purpose of the notice period then??

2) The Tenant waives off his rights to all legal remedies and cannot go to the courts.

Its not like i have the time to do it, but hey i would still like the right to.

3) The lease always ends at the end of the month.

So if you want a 1 year lease from say 01/15/2009 to 01/15/2010 , they will make sign the lease till 01/31/2010. So you WILL have to pay for the extra 15 days at the end of the month.

So if you are a student /business man who is going to be in Philly for a fixed time frame, be prepared to shell out the extra cash as Philadelphia Management wont use a pro rated amount for the rent.

To sum it up, Philadelphia Management will make you pay all the cash to ensure that they are not affected in anyway.

Stay away !!

Worst Property Managers!

by clsun89 at Citysearch

This company has the worst customer service of any property managers in all of Philadelphia. Their buildings are not maintained well at all... there was an electrical problem in our building which PECO was not at fault for and it took Philadelphia Management 2 days to fix the problem... AVOID them at all costs!!!

  • Pros: NONE
  • Cons: Customer service is non existant
