Tips for Ristorante Pesto

Saucy Italian B.Y.O.B. brings a taste of home to the ol' 'hood.. In Short
Plain and quaint, this B.Y.O.B. feels like home, or at least that of the Italian aunt you never had: filled with freshly shaven beaus and impeccably manicured gals from the neighborhood. You have love a restaurant that serves you a side of veggies and roasted potatoes, no matter what entree you order. Thick chicken breast stuffed with prosciutto and mozzarella and served in tomato sauce is good enough to be a closely held family secret.

Good Quality Dining. We came on a busy Saturday night. But you wouldn't know it from the staff. We waited for a friend about 20 minutes and nobody rushed us. On the contrary. The service was excellent, with immediate response to any sign/request. The food was good to excellent. As this is BYOB, we emptied 5 bottles of wine without breaking the bank. Recommended.

Best in Philly. I recently moved to Philly from New York and yearned for some good, Italian food like grandma used to make. Well...Pesto is a dream come true! I go there there at least once or twice a week and if I can get away from work for more than a hour, I try to go there for lunch too. Everyone is soo friendly and the food is phenomenal!! It is like eating over a family member's house. The staff makes you feel like home and you can tell that they work in perfect harmony. (I found it funny that the busboy was the waiter's cousin, the hostess was the busboy's mother...the chefs were the owners and brother-in-laws. The two waiters grew up down the street from each other.) Everyone was literally family and they welcome everyone into their "Pesto family."

Disappointment. I recently had dinner at Pesto and found it be a disappointment. The food was fair (at best) and the service was unattentive. I ordered one of the specials of the evening, which was Dover Sole ($27.00) and my boyfriend ordered the Veal Piccata ($15.00);

the entrees arrived alone; no veggies or anything, and the food was not impressive to stand on its own. They tried to compenate us with cappucinos and cheesecake (which we did not want...although we gave into the cappucinos which arrived at our table uninvited...they were pretty good cappucinos, I must say). I really wanted this restaurant to be good and it was not; therefore, I cannot recommend this restaurant to anyone, there are better experiences in Philadelphia, please try somewhere else.

PESTO: A Great Way To Say Thank You. Needed a top notch meal to thank my cousins for show tickets to the Walnut and Pesto was the answer. We feasted on sumptuous appetizers, diverse main courses and decadent desserts; sharing our four portions family style. Try the sole, filleted table side. It was my favorite even though I rarely order fish. Save room for dessert. You won't be able to resist the chocolate volcano. The wait staff is plentiful and there is a special server just to announce the longest appetizer list I've ever heard. We felt compelled to order one for each of us after his performance and we were glad we did. They were delicious.

Outstanding. Pesto's came highly recommened. We were very pleased with the food and service that we received. From the minute we walked in the door we were made to feel like one of the family. The hostess greeted us with all smiles. The service was more than could be expected. The server made sure that all of our needs were met throughout our meal. The one thing that really impressed us is when the chef came out to see how our meal was. We will definately be eating at Pesto's in the future and we will also recommend this establishment to all of our friends.

Exceptional. We were referred to Pesto's by a very good friend and were told that we would not be disappointed. Well, they were right. We have never been to a restuarant that made you feel like a member of the family. Upon walking in the door we were greeted with smiles and laughter. The hostess checked on us throughout our meal to make sure that we were happy with our meal and service. The cook also came out to make sure that we were satisfied. We were not the only ones they were doing this to...we noticed that they did this with all of the patrons. The food was as good as mama's. I have told several friends about Pesto's. Some have already tried Pesto's and said that we were not wrong about how good the place is. I look forward to returning for another wonderful meal.

Best restaurant in the city!!!. I have been to Ristorante Pesto a countless number of times, and each time is better than the last. The menu offers so many choices and there are so many specials each night. The entire meal is always delicious, from appetizers, entrees, coffee, and desserts. The service is unbeatable. The hostesses are so sweet and charming with every single customer and you definitely feel like you're at home in this restaurant. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for an authentic, affordable Italian meal in a warm, inviting, and cozy atmostphere.

awful service. the hostess was belligerent and offensive; she accused the table of not being Italian and not knowing what Italian food tasted like; she interrupted conversations at the table when she was lecturing the table on how wonderful her restaurant was.

only go to this restaurant if you are looking to get lectured and treated like a child.
