Best (Vegetarian) Cheesesteak in Philly
by minkmo
I really love Giannas faux meat cheesesteaks. They are delicious, huge, and extremely satisfying. Its also a great place to take friends who do eat meat. They also have a large array of delicious vegan treats like cakes, cupcakes, cheesecakes, cannolis etc. I only wish they were open later and had a more organized system for ordering.. it always seems really crowded and people just sort of stand awkwardly in the little space provided while others are constantly trying to squeeze past.
- Pros: delicious veggie junk food, cheap
- Cons: somewhat small, weird hours
vegan junk food
by dgtlgrl
I've been here many times, and I'm falling out of love with it. The novelty of being able to get vegan junk food has worn off. I get slices there, but the crust is always hard and dry. The last time, there was so little (fake) cheese on it that I could see more sauce than cheese. It should cover the top. Some of the toppings they have are good in theory, but the execution just isn't quite right (e.g., artichokes - they should be chopped much smaller, not dropped on in huge pieces). I do like getting vegan cheesesteaks, which are huge. (I only get them when I'm sharing.) The desserts are really good. Sometimes there seems to be an attitude that leaves me feeling like I'm intruding. Is it too much to ask that they have a soap dispenser? (They have soap, but it's always in the huge refill bottle - or at least it has been the dozens of times I've been there.) All in all, when I'm in the mood for junk food, I'll go here.
- Pros: Vegan Junk Food, Desserts
- Cons: Dry Pizza
Don't ask for delivery...
by regina24
I have frequented their place many times, and oddly enough, the food that you get if you call for delivery doesn't stand up to what you get in the establishment. For a long time Gianna's didn't have delivery. To resolve this problem they opened another place, Gianna's jr. around 20th and South and got delivery. unfortunately, they have about 1/4 of what is on Gianna's typical menu. Beware that if you call the original gianna's to place an order because the other doesn't have what you want, you won't get treated very nicely. By the time the delivery was received the food was settled and soggy. When an attempt was made to retreive money for the gross food order the patron was told it was their problem for not order from the "correct Gianna's" and to not order from them again. Treating patrons unfairly doesn't score brownie points.
- Pros: Good selection, inexpensive, good take out
- Cons: Bad Service, Unorganized Delivery, crowded
