Tips for Lounge OneTwoFive

OneTwoFive now Recess... and a trainwreck. Short advice: save your money and go to a real club (may involve travel)-- this one is a 3rd rate attempt at a club.

Well, at least Lounge 125 (the previous incarnation) had good DJ's. The newest version of this parking-structure "club" is big on attitude but short on style. I love Philly, but places like this are just depressing. It is as if an ugly bunch from Jersey shore decided to set up a club house in Old City. As a former bouncer at clubs in NYC and Vegas, I can read the fear in the bouncer's eyes-- they don't know what is going on and are praying that a fight doesn't break out (sorry but one fat bald man and a few elf-like Jersey boys with attitude doesn't really cut it.. be careful guys!). But it's not their fault, the management is obviously out of their league. I suppose if the club can process enough coke dealers through their "VIP" line, they can stay open a few months-- but sooner or later, people will find a real club in Philly. I just hope the bouncers don't get hurt in the meantime. As for the rest: crowd 4/10; drinks 6/10; cover-- got in for $10 bucks, but for most it is $20. Smells like vomit (but maybe not all the time). On the good side, it is easy to make fun off (met a hot girl who was fascinated by lame approach of a co-owner who was ordering everyone around as he tried to hit on her-- the place is definitely amusing). Overall impression: makes you appreciate cities like NYC, Miami, and LA. Poor Philly... go to Pulse, ZBar, ONE, or G Lounge instead (and hope something else opens late in Old City).

A great place for ginos and their gross girls. This place is the worst, if I didnt get in for free i would be p/oed. The sound system is a monster, and the djs are tight and thats saying alot cause I hated most of the music thay played, its very house and techno oriented, and I like both those types of music, but their selections were bad, and they didnt seem to read the crowd. The people there seemed ok with the djs but it was a dead dance floor and it seemed like alot of people were waiting for a good song to dance to but they never found it. I went on a wensday night a the djs were awesome, great selection and very tight mixing. The crowd that goes their is very Jersey musclehead types, not many females and the ones that were there for the most part were too old to be dressing the way they did, belly shirts showing off their guts and bad breast jobs. The drinks were outragously overpriced, 9 bucks for a whiskey and ginger, cmon this is philly, and the dummy serving me couldnt make change for a 50. I will prolly go there again cause its the only afterhours in old city and i like to dance so I would go on a wensday again cause its free so if i've had enough to drink already it a cheap end to a night. The door staff was nice but the bouncers were too "hands on" when trying to get people out at 3:20am. Dont bring your girl if you dont wanna have to deal with armani exchange shirted dudes trying to buy her drinks (which was fine cause I couldnt afford to pay all night) And it was free to be a member so thats cool too. But all in all I wouldnt reccomend this place to people that I liked unless they were going with enough people to make it seem like there isnt any morons there, cause they abound in this place

The former Proto Lounge has a new name and new furniture, but retains its Old City 20-something scene.. In Short
By opening the space up to the sidewalk, this spot seems less like a nightclub beneath a parking garage and more like someone's fancy open living room with mod accoutrements (cushy couches, funky hammock swings and even a waterfall). The dance floor itself is small enough to be deemed intimate, with a silvery DJ booth from which the mix masters spin everything from trancey, mellow electronica to hardcore breakbeats and soulful house tunes.

best saturday night. i can't think of a bar in old city with a better atmosphere than lounge 125. trendy but not cheesy, you can sit on the couch and have a drink and a conversation or dance to great music spun by some of philly's best dj's. the best part is that they are open for afterhours and right next to the parking garage so you don't have to freeze your butt off walking to your car.

Great Little Spot in Old City. I challenge anyone to find a spot in Old City like this one. If you want to lounge and drink in a cool/laidback decor with the option to dance this is the spot. You frequently see people dancing in bars/lounges in Old City with no dance floor to do it on. This spot actually gives you the option with great DJs and a good looking crowd. Although, the place is far from a nightclub so don't expect that type of scene. Unlike other places this one works with being small. I also like the option of bottle service. Overall a great place to hang-out.

Great Music. I love the music here. A great DJ who spins a variety of hip hop, with a lot of old school mixed in, and great house/dance music. The atmoshpere is open and airy making it easy to socialize and giving the aura of classiness. The service from the staff is top notch.
