Editorial Review for AME ... A Pastore Spa Retreat – by Lauren McCutcheon

In Short
Just a half block from Lancaster Avenue, AME has trasformed a plain Wayne house into a serene terra-cotta pagoda. The decor is earthy, yet upscale. Japanese screen doors open to service rooms. Lounging areas include a sunroom with curved wooden chairs and private spaces with velvet-covered chaises. Orchids, fountains and votives abound, maintaining the feng shui. By far the coolest treatment: a heated, dry flotation waterbed called Soft-Pack, which promises the equivalent of eight hours of rest in 20-minutes.

I had my eyebrows waxed at Ame. I should have listen to the previous reviewer because, for $22 I must have paid for the location. For $8, those Vietnamese ladies at most nail salons do a neater and more professional job. When I got home, I had to pluck out my own stray hairs, and my family and friends said it looked like there was no difference. :( I plan to give the salon another chance with a pedicure another time.

Pros: friendly staff

Cons: terrible wax job

I got my wife a gift certificate at the suggestion of my daughter. My daughter has nothing but wonderful things to say about this place so I hoped my wife would like it. She wanted a new look and certainly came home with one, and I think she looks great. (OK she is helping me write this!) She says Brandi did her hair cut and color and made her look years younger. Kathryn did her manicure and pedicure. Now she wants a new ring (just kidding). My daughter told her husband what a "good idea" I had and he called me for the information. Guys out there-she is so happy I had to write this. I usually use this site for restaurant reviews and she told me I had to write this review too!

Pros: relaxing, spotless, individual attention, skilled professionals

Cons: I have to buy more gift certificates now
