Editorial Review for Hip Zipper Vintage Clothing – by A. Kerr

In Short
The non-descript storefront contrasts with an outrageous interior collection that overflows with brightly colored men's and women's fashions from the past. The well-organized wares are divided into his and hers sections with eccentric accessories scattered throughout. Local musicians and other free spirits peruse the piles brought in by the passionate staff. Limited floor space means every item on display is a find, yet prices are reasonable for the average hipster.

Ok, I will give the woman a slight break because she may not have a degree in Fashion Merchandising and may not have worked in major Department Stores all over the country like I have, but I learned about Customer Service when I was 16 years old. The fact that the owner of the store did not even speak to me the entire 20 minutes that I was in her store was more of a turn-off than the fact I found nothing that I would even consider purchasing. I am a HUGE fan of vintage anything and I could not find a single item that I would buy. I might have had she not been so rude. I will never go there again. BTW, I went to Pieces on Louise St. afterwards and I found over $100 worth of clothing I just had to have.

Pros: only place in the area

Cons: everything else

5 Star Rating: Highly Recommended

The Hip Zipper is the only store in the area that carries classic, quality vintage clothing from the 30's to the 70's. No dirty thrift store stuff; cool western shirts (only $22), hundreds of men's shirts, fabulous ties and suits, shoes, hats, racks and racks of dresses ($16-40 max.), beach party-esque bathing and play suits, and the huge selection of spike heels, all only $20. Cannot forget all of the 40's, 50's and 60's furniture from chrome/formica dinette sets, clean-lined wooden tables and a huge selection of lamps. There is also a huge selection of hand-made one of a kind vintage jewelry, a plethora of purses, belts, glasses (for your eyes), glasses for drinking, and the coolest ashtrays around.

Pros: Plenty of Parking, Inexpensive, New inventory daily
