The Joke Is On You. IF you think that there is any reason to visit this rat trap other than to watch the owner make a fool of himself and anyone else who pays for the rotten sludge that the chef claims is food. The beer is often flat the food is always foul and the service is intermittent at best.
worst restaurant experience EVER!!. A group of us recently went to this restaurant because it was very close to the society hill playhouse. All of us left with nothing good to say about this establishment. We waited extremely long for our food and their were many mistakes with the order and also alot that they had "run out" of. The menu itself was quite different than what was on the website and they no longer have a seperate vegetarian menu. We asked to speak with the owner about our food and when we did he was very rude to us (He even went as far as calling one of the women in our party a foul name). PLEASE do yourself a favor and STAY AWAY!!!!
Fine dining food with a casual atmosphere. I recently just had the best romantic dining experience in a long time. From the moment we walked in the door the hostess gave us a warm smile and quickly sat us a table for two despite our lack of reservations. There were glowing candles on the tables along with silverware and water glasses, A giant fish tank sat behind us with some intruiging fish. She quickly brought us warm bread and took a drink order, which I had a special "Vesuvio Eruption" which was simply fantastic. Not long after we placed our food order it had arrived, Saku Tuna rare and crabcakes. The tuna was perfectly cooked and ever so nicely plated. The crabcakes were a golden brown with a taste to match there look apeal, I heard the cakes were the chef's specialty and some of the best in the city which I would have to agree. Within a few minutes of receiving our food the waitress checked on us to make sure everything was absolutely perfect, which it was! We cleared our plates and was offered dessert. Surely we went with the terimisu and chocolate brownie which were to die for! The chocolate brownie was more like a warm lava cake served with icecream..mmmm.. so good! It had to be one of the best restuarant experiences Ive had so far on this side of town. We quickly asked our waitress to book us a reservation for 4 this weekend in which we plan on bringing our friends.
Decent Italian Place. A lot of other reviews have been complaining about the service. I found it to be excellent, as the waiter and hostess were both very attentive. The food was decent. My chicken parm was good but far from great. The biggest advantage of Vesuvio is the vegetarian friendly menu, which my girlfriend raved baout and absolutly lover her dinner. I'd recommend this to anyone who wants a nice dinner with vegetarian options, but not as an Italian restaurant in general.
Dirtiy, bland, nasty, with a side of rodents!!!.
Our food took close to an hour to arrive.
Our waitress definitely hated life.
When the food did arrive it was not worth the wait AT ALL. Even our drinks tasted like dirt.
Oh and half of the things on the menu they were out of!
The cherry on top was when we saw rodents while waiting 20 minutes for our check.......
Great Service, Excellent Food. We attended a party yesterday and the service was amazing. The staff was extremely friendly. The food was excuisite. I definitely will go back for dinner and would recommend this restaurant.
A poor experience. We (a party of 7) went after a show at Society Hill Playhouse and we were all disappointed. The menu was completely different than the website menu and limited, the server was not pleasant at all and the food was o.k. The tuna was supposed to be rare and 3 out of 3 tunas were not rare. In all fairness other workers and/or manager were pleasant but our waitress never even cracked a smile.
