Worst food that I have ever eaten
by phillysoccer
I ordered takeout fajitas on Jan. 11, 2009 and I received the worst food that I have ever bought from a takeout place or eaten in a restaurant. There was very little steak and chicken and the meat that I got was very dry and overcooked. For some reason there were carrots and broccoli in the mix of fajita food. There was no cheese included and only 3 tortillas for the $15 fajita order.
I recommend for everyone to avoid this at any cost.
- Pros: Fairly fast delivery
- Cons: Food quality
Mexican food
by Ilovephily
When this first opened I was there all the time. Unfortunately it has gone down hill in quality and service. The waitress is always rude when we come in. The meats in the tacos are fattier cuts than they used to be when they opened. The burritos are filled with more rice instead of quality meats. Its time for me to find a new mexican restaurant if they dont get it together soon. Dont get me wrong the food is still authentic and I hope the owners will not keep on sacrificing quality. the food is no longer cheap as well so if they are going to charge 12 dollars for chichen mole I dont want fatty chicken.
Saborita de Mexico... A little tast of Mexico
by stinafeminista
I consider myself to be part Mexican (even though I'm not) since I have lived there and visited so often and every time I come back I miss it, especially the food. While not the absolute best, it's still as authentic as you can get without actually crossing the border. I love that they have a varied menu of food from the different regions- (no, not all Mexican is the same.) and if you order the same dish more than once, it's always a little different- just like Mexico. The atmosphere is very casual and honestly, you just can't beat those prices. Great for us poor college kids.
Keep the following in mind: As previously stated, this is a pretty authentic place- and that?s in all aspects. If you go to a restaurant in MX, the service is very slow, you may get your entree waaayyy before everyone else, etc. In fact, it?s considered rude to ?bother? the customer while they?re dining or even to bring the check before it is asked for. Having said that about their customs, they?re just doing what they know - offering the complete Mexican restaurant experience. By American standards, the service might be poor, but then again, this is a little taste of Mexico, not a 5 star restaurant in Center City, or even a Denny's. If you can speak Spanish, I highly recommend doing so, or at least trying to order in Spanish. I've gone in every once in awhile and caught one or two in a foul mood, but they were all smiles as soon as I broke out in Spanish... and my acquired Mexican accent, which I'm sure helped.
I've tried some of the other more authentic Mexican places in the city, and I can honestly tell you that none of them have better quality, selection, taste or prices. Definitely give it a try, and if you have a bad experience, give it another shot, because it's worth it.
- Pros: Great food, great prices, good place if you have kids, nice place to start or end your evening with a meal
- Cons: Not good for a romantic night out, or if you're looking for more ambience. Service is touch and go by American standards.
