We were looking to get in a better
neighborhood because the kids were starting to get older and we wanted a better “Group” of kids for them to hang out with. We were living in Kensington and since my wife’s job requires that she live in Philadelphia, we decided the Northeast was the area best to raise a family after researching it for a while. We registered with Locators since a buddy of mine had used them two different times successfully. I was not interested in searching through the madness of Craig’s list. Since we were so particular with the neighborhood that we wanted to live in, it took a little over a month to find what we wanted. We ended up renting a house in Rhawnhurst that fits the bill completely. The wife is happy, the kids are safer and that makes this Dad thankful.
I was looking for a very unique place to live. I am an artist and work from home and need a relaxing and inspirational place to set up my studio. They told me that their specialty was finding just the kind of place I was looking for. The first month, they did have some interesting rentals but nothing that was just right for me. On my 5th week with them, I found the place just like what I had envisioned. It’s a 2 Bedroom old carriage house with big old willow trees around it and a creek out back. The ceilings have the really cool exposed wooden beams & the front door is mostly stained glass! The main bedroom which is what I will use for my studio is huge and the view looks right out to the creek. I can’t wait to start painting in my new place and know that the perfect living and creation space will inspire me much more than where I have been the last few years. Thank you, thank you, thank you Locators !
I absolutely recommend using this
company! My company transferred me to Philadelphia from Cleveland, OH. I had 2 weeks notice to move my entire life and find a place to live or lose the promotion chance since it needed to be filled immediately. I saw a Locators ad on Craig’s list and they told me their company was perfect for me because I could set up appointments to see the places before I arrived in Philadelphia. I just contacted the places that were available immediately so the day after I arrived I had 5 appointments’ to look at places. The third place I went to see was just what I was looking for and even reminded me of my old place back in Cleveland! I was only stuck living in a hotel for 3 days and am now happily living in my new Center City apartment, not that I see it often since the new job is insane!
I was surprised to see some bad reviews on this company because I was very happy with them. I signed up, got my properties almost everyday by going online for about a week. I found a great apartment in the Greater Northeast that is cheaper than I was paying and nicer. I needed to move quick and my buddy reccomended them to me since he and his wife used them last year. Sorry some of you dont feel the same, guess you cant please everybody.
SAVE YOUR MONEY!!!. DO NOT USE! SAVE YOUR MONEY! None of them promising places in the newspaper for locators will be there when you sign up. Any of them you see will never show up. They won't refund you if you find a place without using their service like they say they do. Locators will not call you back when you try to discuss getting the refund with them. Don't listen to them when they say you have to follow it like they want you to. All that means is you have to ask for an updated list EVERY day. So if you have a life and miss a day, you're not 'following the program'. If you think they are going to "help you find a place" then think again. They will simply give you a short list of properties and then youre on your own. You're better off spending $.75 for a newspaper than $200 for this crap.
Total Scam!! :(. I was looking for an apartment in Philadelphia for a couple of weeks and saw an ad on Craigslist for a one bedroom apartment in Northern Liberties for $500. Sounded perfect. I left a message and someone called me back from Locators explaining how they had thousands of listings, would help me until I found just what I was looking for, and had plenty of properties in my price range. I was skeptical about paying the 150 but decided to go for it, since I was having such a hard time, and paid them. I was so excited to see the listings, and when I went on the website, total disappointment!! They sent me about 600 listings (in the worst neighborhoods) of which only 2 where in my price range . I told the representative no more than $500 (I'm a college student) and he sent me from 0-1000. There are NO PICS, you have to print up a code sheet to read the descriptions, and you need a magnifying glass to go through the listing!! A total headache!! When I called the next day, they gave me the worst run-around (completely different attitude from when they were convincing me to sign up) and the one representative from processing told me I'll put your search down to 700, but don't go telling any of your friends we can do that!! What the heck?? Isn't that what I paid 150 dollars for?? Horrible!!
Scammed me, Refused Refund. My husband is leaving for a deployment with the military, and I was trying to move toward family in PA with my kids and dogs. They told me they were sending me a list of 4-8 pages in Cumberland Co. When I got it, Dauphin Co was included (most places in the city where a bullet proof vest would be necessary with lease). The ones that were in the area I requested did not allow pets, even though I clearly stated I needed pet friendly places ONLY. There was ONE place that was in my price range and said it allowed pets AND they would cover the fee. When I called, the company (a property management company) informed me that pets were not allowed at that property and that they do not advertise through Locators and would be looking into that. I called Locators to tell them they scammed me by providing me with a list of properties - none of which fit the criteria they said they'd be putting in. The woman told me to not tell land lords that I have dogs, but to bring a picture of them and explain after seeing the property that they mean a lot to me and hope they change their minds and refused me a refund. I disputed it with my credit card company and won, but I'd like to save everyone else the hassle! Don't do it - it was a waste of time and money and a huge stressor to a struggling military family just trying to get by.
Home in time for Christmas.
I was looking for a place to rent close to Philly to move me and my wife Angie since we're expecting our first in a few months. I really wanted to find a rent to own house since I don't have the money to straight buy right now. A buddy of mine told me about this company that searches for properties called Locators, and I gave it a shot. I told them I needed two bedrooms in Bucks county, although Montgomery county would also work if necessary. I got a pretty big list: over a hundred. Not everything worked for me, but I called the ones that did, Angie and I made some appointments, and we found this cool little rancher in Doylestown. The landlady was really nice, and even knocked that fee Locators charged off my rent. With any luck, we'll own that house in two years.
The process was painless and simple, and we're in a house in time enough to celebrate Christmas in style. Thanks a bunch.

as two poor students, we loved Locators !.
My boyfriend and I registered with them about a month ago because we needed to find a place by January 1st and it needed to be cheap because we are both going to school at U of P. Locators gave us all the places they had for under $900 in University City. We did not find what we were looking for the first time out like I have read about with them, but we did find something last week that we just love! We will have 2 bedrooms, a great yard with a firepit, parking and I got to take my 2 cats for $825 a month. We could not be happier
Thieves. They get no stars. I signed up for this service a few years ago. I was told I could use it at any time. I paid $200 dollars . Now when I try to use it to look for a new appartment ,I am told I never registered. They somhow have all my information, but no record of me giving them the registration fee. Total scam. Beware. $200 bucks later wish I did.
