Awesome Salon!!!!. Since moving to Philly I have been searching for the perfect salon. After my cut and color at Beehive my search is over! I saw Dana and she did a great job with both my cut and color, she was friendly and professional and I left feeling great! I would definitely recommend Dana to all my friends!!! And as if I needed extra incentive to go, they have great Spring specials on facials, massages and waxing!

Friendly people, but not worth the headache!. I went to the Beehive a few months ago to get my hair colored. Having just moved to the city I was looking for a place that I could become a regular at, but this place will not be it. I will say that the receptionist and staff were all extremely pleasant people and it is possible I just had a bad experience. I didn't even get a cut so maybe their cuts are great. I needed them to match my color for my roots and I thought this may be a difficult request. Lena did my hair also and the first color she did my roots was incredibly lighter than the rest of my hair. She was eventually able to match it very well, but I had to pay extra for the mismatch. I remained pretty calm after the initial mega blond roots, but I felt like she was panicking a bit or rushing to go home since it was an evening appointment. She pulled my hair A LOT to the point where my head ached for days afterwards and I am typically not the slightest bit tender headed. I decided to write a review only after I went to Aveda and made the same request. The student doing my hair matched my color perfectly on the first try and I got the color AND a cut for less than half the price of the color alone at beehive. You sacrifice some of the luxury and pampering going to a place like Aveda but they do a good job- without the headache. I just didn't feel that the Beehive experience was the pampering and relaxing experience that usually makes the high price worth the trip. I certainly wasn't thrilled about paying so much for the sore scalp after I realized how much easier a trip somewhere else may have been.

Used to be awesome; not so much now. I miss Bree - she was friendly and gave a great haircut. When I found she was no longer there, I was so desperate for a haircut that I decided to go with the suggested Lena. After having been called by the Beehive to reschedule the day before for a later appointment because of Lena's schedule, I STILL waited 25 minutes when I got there (another 5 and I was leaving). I found Lena to be barely civil, and while the haircut I got is fine (better than just ok, but not great), she SAVAGED me with the scissors, comb, and clippers, actually nicking my ear once and not apologizing when I said ouch. The amount of pressure she applied with the clippers on my sideburns (and for some reason, down my jaw) as well as the violent, cutting motion she used with the comb probably constituted battery. I certainly won't be back, and if anyone can tell me where Bree has gone, I would really appreciate it.

Great service, refreshing atmosphere. I started going getting my hair cut at Beehive a year and a half ago. They have taken me from long hair to short and back down again. I know that I can get a good cut from any one of the girls. The best part about this salon, though, is the atmosphere. Everyone is extremely friendly and not pretentious whatsoever. You never feel pressured to buy products, and you always leave feeling satisfied. Finally, the prices are very reasonable both for cuts and for color.

I love the hive!. Amy May has consistantly done amazing things with my hair. I have very straight and uncooperative hair- wont hold a curl, doesn't respond to wrangling with product, and the slightest imperfection in the cut/style looks like a glaring neon sign. When I moved to San Francisco I would schedule return trips to the Beehive to keep my hair looking sharp and awsome. Amy is a no nonsense business person, She wont force you to buy up a ton of product and she prefers to spend time with you rather than your gossip.

I can get my hair done for free elsewhere but I prefer to come back to the beehive.

The prices are reasonable and the service is prompt. The dogs in the front greet you with love and excitement.

Best haircut in Philadelphia. Not only is the staff amazing, but they all know what they are doing because they continue education and let all of their clients know it. The haircuts are not only the best in the city, but so inexpensive!!! I would pay double what I pay just for the cut and the staff alone. They are all unbelievably talented!! And the dogs are soooo cute!!

get the haircut you've always wanted.... This shop has something for everyone whether you crave long locks, slick cuts, romantic up-do's for that special occasion/wedding, handsome cuts for men or vibrant color. You'll also find cool tunes, a talented and friendly staff, and the two cutest canines ever. The Beehive outdoes itself by showcasing the talents of artists and jewelers on a regular basis. Not to be missed. Bee hip...go to the Beehive. And don't miss the rainbow sticker on the window!

Trust Your Hair Elsewhere. Do you like to pay double for average cuts? How about for incompetent and rude service? Yes? Then go directly to Beehive, the neighborhood shop that charges as much as Pileggi but with none of the amenities or skill. But you say you like the snobby attitude at Pileggi? Never fear, Peg will clearly let you know that she doesn't need your patronage. She surely let ME know on many occasions. I was a regular customer for several years, and I cut them a lot of slack. (And I mean A LOT!) Alas, no more. There are too many other good salons with reasonable prices. Go to the Chop Shop for cheap and competent cuts. Go to Pileggi for elite service. Heck, go to Jim's on 24th St. & Brown St., around the corner from Beehive if you need to stay in Fairmount and want to get quality service.

Amazing!. I had the most amazing experience at the Beehive. The service was prompt, my stylist was incredible and I got the most relaxing scalp massage from the assistant Moesha.
