Best steak I ever had. This great place definitely lives up to its reputation. This was the finest steak I ever had and my husband's lobster was sensational. The service was perfect and the ambiance is just what we hoped for.

Great seafood and excellent steaks. The food is superb, the place is lovely, but it is quite noisy and very busy. However, that said I would highly resommend this place for anyone loving steaks and fish.

pretty good overall.... found S&W on CitySearch. i normally go to places that are 9.0 or higher. this rule of thumb paid off. my only complaint was that the portion of the appetizers and salads are far too large to have both. choose one or the other. having both will only lead to discomfort later. several of my companions were not satisfied fully with their filet, but my ribeye was excellent.

there were 10 of us in my party. the waiter was good natured. there is a fine line that can be easily crossed between patron and server, and our server was balanced in all aspects, despite the highly roudy crowd. we started with a seafood appetizer. one of my companions simply agreed to what our server had listed. prawns, various oysters, lobster tail, crab chunk, and calamari soon arrived. we had two of them, and it was nearly too much for 10 people. the variety of sauces was a welcome addition (hot, cold, spice, tasty).

not everyone ordered a salad. for those of us who did, we could have stopped there. the caesar salad was fantastic. i prefer anchovies on the side, but it was not available. they were in the dressing providing the saltiness required. one of my companions had a salad that contained HUGE pieces of bacon in it...delicious.

my medium-cooked bone-in ribeye was delicious (oscar style). i heard grumblings from my companions regarding their sirloins and filets. the complaint about the filet was that it was over-charred on the outside. the complaint about the sirloin was the prevalent dryness.

overall, this was a pleason dining experience for me. i would skip the filet and sirloin and always opt for the ribeye.

Disappointed. We had heard good things about this restaurant and were excited when we got reservations for a Friday evening. Even with reservations, we were not promply seated. Ordered prime rib (rare) and it came medium and dryand the potatoe for the side dish was nothing to write home about. Service was very slow (not a crowded night) and my water glass was NEVER filled!

Good food, service, and view. On a recent vacation to Philly I took my family to S&W's. My New York Strip was large and tasty. My wife loved the lobster and our waiter helped her decide on which one, he was very knowledgeable. Even my seven year old son enjoyed the doting service of the wait staff and loved the food. My only negative is that the portion of the creamed spinach was on the small side, though VERY good.

great drinks and food. I first was here when I took my girlfriend out for her birthday. I had the best margarita on the rocks that I've ever had. And the steak was perfect. Seated at an upstairs window to overlook Rittenhouse square was great. The servers were quick and courteous. A good time all around. The noise level was good for a date, easy to talk, but not dead either.

Danell Corritore. A wonderful dining experience. When I traveled to Philly, I always wanted to eat at Smith and Wollensky. They serve great martinis and the atmosphere is cozy and intimate in the bar restaurant. The food was always prepared perfectly and the steaks are great. I rate it above the Palm, Ruth's Chris, and Mortons-too stuffy and pricey. I miss Smith and Wollensky's now that I am not visiting Philadelphia any more. Bring one to Nashville, please.

Not all that. The Service was very good, the appetizers and desserts were great, but our steaks were just OK. Just as good off of the grill at home and 1/5 the price. A $28 steak should make your eyes roll back in your head.

Wonderful Experience. WELL WORTH IT Dined here with my husband last night . EXCELLENT Service was amazing. Top Notch. Only steakhouse ive been to that provides such wonderful service. On top of you but not overbearing. Marcello and his partner are great. A classic steakhouse waiter. Profesionaljust like the rest of the place. From our initial greeting thru our meal and drinks at the bar afterwards. This has become our Philly Favorite. Great View too.
