Editorial Review for Finn McCool's Ale House – by James Zeleniak
In Short
A radical renovation has turned this one-time dive bar into an attractive and inviting modern Irish player in this burgeoning midtown district where little of the old space remains, save the friendly low pressure vibe and maybe the mozzarella sticks. A revamped beer list gains Stella, Victory Hop Devil and some up-market favorites holding court next to standards such as Coors and Miller. Pub grub runs the gamut from basic burgers and wings to a German Wurst Platter and Portuguese Mussels and Clams. Celtic fare comes in Sheppard's Pie, Bangers and Mash, Fish and Chips.

We were pub crawling after the flower show in March 2008. We try to find new bars to experience. We have been to at least 20 already in the area.. We stopped a Finn's and glad we did.. We really liked the variety of beers and the food was excellent.. We talked with the bartender "H"; we got advice from her as to where to go next, someplace we had not been.. We went to "Dirty Franks" where her boyfriend works.. Both places are locations that we will return to... Thank you "H" for your time, information and conversation.. Say hi to "H" who we met at "D Fs" and to "B" who treated us great. We really enjoyed both places. The old timer pub crawlers.... Ray and Sandy
Pros: nice atmosphere, great bartender, excellent food
Cons: can't think of any

If not, its a MUST!!!! Finn McCools Ale House has undertaken major renovations and now has its newest addition, Prime Lounge/Restaurant. Split in two levels, you get your regular Irish Bar with a modern twist, and a Lounge/Restaurant were you can have a glass of wine and a fabulous dinner with a date or a night out with the ladies!! And it doesnt end there! If you stay long enough, ad DJ comes on and the place becomes a hot night club!! I didnt know about this the first time, but you can also rent out the VIP room which I did just last weekend, the owner through in a complimentary bottle of champagne...for my BIRTHDAY!!!! Wow!!!! Same owners as you may remember, but the ambiance is absolutely an unforgettable experience!!!! Conveniently located near the Convention Center and the Marriott and the Lowe's Hotel, I recommend this corner bar/lounge to all my out-of-town co-workers, family and friends!!! Keep up the excellent work!!!
Pros: Two levels, one Irish Pub one more Lounge, two parking lots, hotels and concvention center nearby, excellent for out-of-towners!
Cons: Work on getting rid of the bumbs hanging around there at 3am!!
