What People Are Saying About Mikado Japanese Restaurant

In Short – Look for a long sushi bar, traditional Japanese woodblock print robes worn by the servers, and the pebble garden beneath th sunken booth seating area at this comfortable Japanese eatery. Diehard sushi fans will have to deliberate over the wide variety of tempting special rolls like the Traffic Light or the ume-shiso maki. The house hot pots and the lobster tempura are worthy alternatives.
under new management

Mikado seems to be under new management and it has really gone downhill as a result. The service was terrible- Our entrees came BEFORE our appetizers and they didn't seem to understand when we complained. We had to ask for rice, and again, they acted as if this was a major imposition. And they never once re-filled our water glasses.
The food was ok but the Sashimi portion was much smaller than it used to be.
But the real deterrent was the brusque and inefficient service.
Not really impressed by the sushi...

I went to dinner there on a date once and I ordered sushi while my date ordered the mikado steak. The steak was fantastic, but the sushi I ordered was not good at all. It didn't taste fresh and it made me feel a little queasy. I don't know if I would recommend it for the sushi, but if you have a hankering for a really tender flavorful steak, you won't be at a loss.
- Pros: prompt seating
- Cons: not very fresh sushi
Best sushi with friendly and excellent service

Have eaten there many times and never had a bad meal. Try the house salad with ginger dressing. The specialty rolls are very good also. I eat sushi and sashimi and it is always fresh and tasty. You can sit outside now which is nice.
- Pros: Food, service, consistent commitment to excellence
- Cons: upstiars does not have much ambience
