Italian food from a can. If you are looking to have someone open a jar of pasta sauce and serve it over a boiled pasta from a box, then that's the place for you. Even my 10 year old nephew can fix something better for dinner. Prices are fair.

WORSE customer service EVER. My wife and 11 yo daughter just walked into the From the Boot's Lafayette Hill's restaurant. We as a family have been eating there for years. had a bad experience (bad rude service) with a paritcular waitress, Margie a few years back. So when we go, we ask to be sat in a different section just to avoid an "experience". In some visits to the restaurant after that , "Margie" would speak to the other waiters while we ate. the waiter serving us would just shake his head and look befuddled. Today, Wed 3/31, my daughter and wife planned a day together. Our daughter wanted the Boot for lunch. As they walked in and asked to be seated, "Margie" walked up, took the menus from the hostess and said, "i know where they want to be seated" and put them in a section that wasnt hers. she walked in the back. one of the owners came out, confronted my wife, embarrassing her and my daughter in front of the whole restaurant, saying this is ending right now! amazing. we are all in shock! NO food is worth that!! And the owner didnt care one way or the other! NOT a very good family environment when you have to deal with a server and owner like that.....SAVE your money and your time in long line for a table!

Stay away! The worst service ever.. Extremely rude. The place is popular, so the staff makes you wait, won't take reservations and makes the customers feel as if they need the restaurant (and not the opposite). I would happily wait, if the staff is polite and manages the place well. If you ask them a second time how long the wait is, they yell back and put you at the back of the line.

There's much better for the same or less $$$. I went to the Ambler location for dinner and thought that maybe this time someone got it right. Great location (next to Ambler Theater), attractive room, excellent price points with broad menu options. Close, but no cigar here. Friendly waitstaff and an accommodating hostess cannot make up for pedestrian preparation of average ingredients. I cannot believe people wait for 60-90 minutes for this food. Even a mediocre South Philly place is better.

The BEST Italian Food I've EVER Eaten. From the Boot is hands down the best restaurant I've been too. The food is phenomenal (better than when I was in Italy), the staff is friendly, and the prices are beyond reasonable. I love going to FTB and taking everyone I know there (they become loyal customers as well). You do wait a while for a table, but it is sooooo worth it!

I don't get it. From the Boot is very good, but I still don't understand why people are willing to wait in line to get into the place during most nights of the week. The area is loaded with good restaurants, some of which are less expensive and almost on par with From the Boot.

I've eaten there about a dozen times, both for lunch and dinner. It's almost always crowded and usually very noisy. The food is indeed special, right down to the uniquely scrumptious garlic rolls. Entrees are classy for what might be considered an expanded pizza parlor. All pasta dishes are excellent. Sandwiches are very good. Service is typically good but far from perfect, including a recent meal where I had to ask for silverware twice after receiving my mail.

Get take out. Consistently great food. I love the boot. The only problem is getting a table. (They do not take reservations) I showed up a half hour before closing time on a Saturday night recently and was told they would not put anyone else on the waiting list. (The waiting area was full, but if you're there a half hour before close, they should let you wait for a table). The only time it's easy to get a table is mid-week, mid-winter, late, when it's snowing. Other than that, call in your order and take it home.

I've eaten at this place many times for at least three years. I have never had a meal that was not delicious. The mussels in red sauce is amazing. The chicken marsala is notably good. The pizzas are excellent. The service has improved. In the past they had a lot of high school aged help, but nowadays the servers are older and more experienced. The help is always friendly even though they are running like mad all the time, and probably getting less than generous tips. (No liquor sales, low prices) The boot is a really nice place.

BEST RESTR AROUND. This is by far the best restaurant for your money. The staff make you feel at home and know the menu inside and out. Anything I have ever ordered has been amazing. They will seat you know matter how late you arrive and with a big smile. The price is right on all of their food. You can get a full app, 2 great meals for only $50 including a 20%tip. Where else can you do that.

Friendly and Affordable. This is my very first posted review. I'm a repeat visitor of "The Boot" and feel it necessary to praise this gem on Germantown Ave. This cozy corner ha a comfortable setting (not quite elbow bumping, the staff maneuvers it well), plenty of conversations (aren't many red sauce Italian places?), exquisitely friendly service, and quality menu selection, presentation and taste! It isn't the most romantic place for a quiet dinner for two, but if you're flexible, the dishes from The Boot can take you there! Choices range from more casual (but hearty) special sandwiches, to your classic rich Italian pastas and sauces, to the more refined chicken and seafood dishes (not overcooked, but lush and succulent). I recommend the light and crisp calamari starter (so fresh!) Remember to BYOB; if there's a small line, you can always start your bottle on the bench or have the staff keep your whites chilled while you wait. Very affordable for the connoisseur-in-training. Perfect for great dining with a casual attitude. Closed on Mondays.
