In Short – The Kimmel Center's restaurant has a tough act to pull off. Packed solid before shows, Cadence must quickly serve complex New American cuisine to typically exacting, orchestra-going diners. What's more, the minimalist design--a long, narrow third-floor dining area with rows of sleek tables--presents a long kitchen-to-table trek for forgetful servers. The ambitious menu spans burgers to bouillabaisse and includes slow-cookers like coq au vin and duck sausage stew.

fun place

the menu that citysearch reviewed is an old menu. the menus change with the seasons (about twice a year), which definately keeps things fresh at the kimmel center. they have a great wine list, the servers are so nice and accomodating, the bartenders are a lot of fun (they also make a mean tiramisu martini!). the food is good- there is definately a "regular" crowd here. i would recommend coming here for drinks and appetizers out on the terrace- you can't get a better view of philly anywhere else. the one qualm i do have about cadence is that it is only open when there is a performance in verizon hall. when asked about this, they said that there isn't enough demand to be open all the time. i guess this means that you should go check it out!

  • Pros: service, wine list/drinks, food
  • Cons: not open regularly

get it straight

first of all, Cadence is not only open on performance nights. it is open wed night though sunday brunch every week, in addition to performance times. #2, it is not complex new american cuisine. it is the style of a contemporary french brasserie. #3 it opens at 5pm, not 530. now that we've gotten the fallacies out of the way & the facts in... service: if u want to be in and out in an hour, with all courses included, then u should try the food court at bellview. its a RESTAURANT. furthermore perhaps people would have time to eat dessert if they did not show up at the restaurant a half hour late for their reservation. I have eaten there, the food was amazing, the cocktails are fun, the servers are friendly. i reccommend it for anyone who enjoys the ART of dining, not just "going out to eat".

  • Pros: pre/post theatre, sassy and classy, great food
  • Cons: closes at 8 for dinne, post perf menu slim
