Everytime I go to Ms Tootsie It is a joy. I wanted some smothered pork chops and they did not have any. They were so sorry and gave me somethingelse and a free tea. They just wanted me to be satisfied. Still my favorite restaurant.

I don't know what's happening, perhaps there is change in chef, but my last two dining experiences at Ms. Tootsie's was anything but desirable. I dined there last night with my cousin and ordered three sides, collards, Mac & cheese and yams. The only item I enjoyed was the yams. The greens were painfully salty and the Mac & cheese was very dry. This is the second time I experienced disappointment at this restaurant, which I used to enjoy. Perhaps they should have spent money on hiring a new chef instead of updating the restaurant. The food was better when the place was a tiny over crowded joint. And please delegate a host at the door!!! We stood a the door for 6 minutes before anyone approached us.

Best Soul Food anywhere. One word comes to mind when I think about the experience that I had - bliss. From the friendliness of the staff, the attentiveness of our waitress and the variety of dishes to chose from to the deliciousness of the meal itself, it was heavenly. The atmosphere is inviting and intreguing. The bar on the 3rd floor was very cool as were the specialty drinks that we had while waiting for our table. I felt like I was in a friends home. I highly recommend the seafood platter with the lobster mac-n-cheese and sweet potatoes followed by a slice of red velvet cake...to die for!

Philly's Best Kept Secret!!. This was our first visit to Ms. Tootsies...and we will definitely go again!!

From the moment my husband & I walked in, everyone was so pleasant and immediately created a very welcome feeling. The atmosphere was cozy and really encouraged conversation.

The food overall was tasty, but the fried shrimp were EXCEPTIONAL!! With just the perfect amount of breading to add a little crunch, each mouthful was all shrimp. The collard greens (cooked w/turkey..for those health conscious eaters) were tender and succulent.

Pricing was average for a night out....definitely a place to visit in Philly!!

Great stop for home food. We stopped in on Saturday about 5:30 after a long day trip to Jersey shore to explore the various towns. Had heard about Ms. Tootsie's Fried Chicken on Food Channel and being from South we were in the mood for comfort food. We were told it would be 60 minute wait so we sat at upstairs bar and had a few drinks. The bar keeper was extremely polite and attentive, the other diners waiting were freindly and the atmosphere made the time pass quickly. The food was excellent from the chicken to collards, cabbage, mixed corn, corn muffins (authenic) to sweet potato cheescake. We shared veggies among the three of us to taste them all. The group at table next to us had ties to UGA as does my wife. Lots of laughs, great service, and again excellent comfort foods.

Great Service. At 30 something years of age dining has become an all encompassing experience. I expect good food, service, and a safe environment. Gone are the days when I was willing to put up with substandard service for a "banging burger" or great hot wings. I am proud to say the service I received at Ms. Tootsies has been nothing less than outstanding. Management has been available to discuss and answer any of my concerns. While this should be common restaurant etiquette, it is not. I just had a recent experience where I attended a restaurant in my hometown and the management was not very attentive to the needs of my party. Perhaps Ms. Tootsies should consider relocating to the DC Area. I have enjoyed the service at Ms. Tootsies so much we have discussed them catering my wedding.

Great Food, Ok service. I am visiting from Atlanta with my son and we wanted something beside cheesesteaks so I can across Ms Tootsie. I muse say I was a little disappointed when I wanted to have the fried chicken and the waitress said they were out of dark meat. So i changed my meal to smotherd pork chops which was great. I got the collard greens and mac and chesse. We got so much food that we had to get to go boxes. Now the service I asked the waitress to change my drink because I did not like the fruit punch and she rolled her eyes at me with a serious attitude. I was going to leave at that point but I said I will give the food a chance and not let her mess up my day even more after there was not dark meat chicken. The corn bread was great and I am not a corn bread person. I must also say that there special drink of ice tea was wonderful. It tasted more like a fruit punch than an ice tea. If you are every in phiiy please visit this spot I am sure you will enjoy. I plan on visiting again when we return.

Great service, excellent soul food. So, I did what I always do when my husband and I are traveling to a city looking for local flavor - I did a review search on the places people told us about. Ms. Tootsie's reviews helped us decide and I'm glad we did. Our waitress was straight up Black Southern Princess! She guided us through our decisions of smothered porkchops, mac/cheese and collards. I agree that the cornbread will melt in your mouth! They ran out of the special butter so I can't comment on that. The best part of the evening after the food was the tour she gave us of the restaurant. Little does she know - her great service may get them my husband's coporate business. The one complaint I have was that the drink specials tasted horrible - the great news is that they replaced the drinks until I was happy. Looking for good soul food in a jazzy urban setting - this place is it. Oh, don't forget to swing by, put your name on the list and enjoy downtown until your table is ready. They called my cell 45 min into the listed 1 hour wait.
