The Scene
This is perhaps one of the city's most unique hotels. The proprietors and spiritual guides, Father and Mother Divine, set high standards for proper behavior and conduct at this modern-looking brick hostelry. The list of rules is seemingly endless, banning alcohol, smoking, outside visitors, eating in your room, cursing, the wearing of shorts and miniskirts and "the undue mixing of the sexes."
The Details
The atmosphere resembles that of the European hostels so popular with student travelers and others on budgets. You'll find all the basics--immaculate rooms, some of which even offer air-conditioning--but couples take note: Accommodations are segregated, with male and female floors. Rest assured you'll find yourself in eclectic company if you choose to take your meals in the communal dining room. Business services such as a notary public, photocopying and typing are available.

When I lived in Philadelphia, I often checked into the Divine Tracy Hotel for a few days of respite from urban life. I found it a wonderfully warm space for prayer, meditation and reflection. Although "Cash Only", rooms were priced well below the going rates and were well-maintained. It's a great places to meet highly diverse professionals from abroad.

Divine Tracy Hotel is a very weird, cut and dry hotel. This is not a hotel for everyone. I would suggest only staying here if you are traveling alone, as there are a lot of rules and men and women are separated into different floors even couples! This isnt like any hotel Ive ever stayed in. The service is good and the rooms are clean. Although it has its nice points, I would recommend.

I am from India and I stayed at the Divine Tracy Hotel on two occasions, everytime for about 4-5 weeks. It was one of the most pleasant stays that I had in Philadelphia. The people here are very polite; always seem to have time on their hands. It is a central place and is well connected with different transportation means. Given that I was away from home, I felt secure here. It was like a home away from home. I had left it last time with a heavy heart as I could not extend my stay-every room was booked. As and when I can, I would love to stay here again. Thank you Divya Sharma
