Editorial Review for Bluemercury Apothecary and Spa – by Lauren McCutcheon

In Short
Facials here are a bit pricy, but very worth it. The esthetician/makeup artist discusses skin care concerns before leading you to a small room for robe and slippers, and then into a minimalist treatment room with mint green and sky blue walls. There, she uses the shop's own glycolic cleansers, calming masks, herbal toners, plus vitamin-enriched oxygen and preventative extractions. Afterwards, skin feels softer, relaxed and purified from within. You're sent home with a goodie bag of product samples.

I spent three years leaving in Philadelphia trying to find the perfect brazilian wax and after so many tries I went to Bluemercury. I been able to have an appointment within 3 days. The person which did my wax was Jae Barnes and was the most nice person ever! she made me feel really comfortable, I was really afraid since my skin always get really irritated and always really painful, well she uses two waxes, first one which sticks to your skin and then a second one so that it doesn't pull your skin off and make you hurt! it was so not painful, the price was $55 and the spa is so clean and so relaxing. Really, really loved it! and I am so happy that I finally found her!

Pros: best wax ever! not any pain. Great atmosphere!

Cons: a little bit pricey but like everywhere in Philadelphia

I have had a problem with skin tone since I turned the big 40 and I found the staff more than helpful. My partner felt right at home as well... We love the store, the staff, and the SPA!

Pros: Staff, products, location

Cons: need more stores!
