Decent food, Horrendous Service. Went to Cafe Habana with my boyfriend on a Tuesday or Wednesday night. The place wasn't very crowded but the service was horrible. It took over an hour to get our appetizer, another long wait for the main course. And we had to hunt down our server to get the bill and then pay it. Other than that the food was good, although it seemed over priced and the mojitos are excellent. I'd much rather go out to Cuba Libre or Alma de Cuba, food and service are better
Jazzy Friday. I went to Cafe Habana primarily for the jazz fusion on fri night. The kitchen was closed at 11pm. But I had my first mojito and it was outstanding. The small stage was opposite the bar. The lighting set of dark hues of the blue and yellow walls.
Cuban--without the fusion--comes to Rittenhouse Square..
In Short
The locale's vibrant orange, green and salmon walls energize, while familiar tropical accents like overhead fans, palm plants andrtlch rattan chairs calm and relax. Cafe Habana serves up classic Cuban delights. There are almost as many appetizers as main dishes, so if you're in the mood for tapas, you'll find plenty. Whatever you're having, make sure your cocktail is a mojito--an easy blend of sugar, mint leaves, lime juice, rum, ice and soda water.
Great place!. I've been to Cafe Habana a few times now, and I always leave impressed. I first went there on a date last fall and had a wonderful dinner in its intimate setting. I then returned with a friend on a busy night, and although it turned out we weren't able to be seated, the owner actually called the people on his reservations list for that evening to confirm they were coming before turning us away! His professionalism impressed me and I returned at a later date for another great dinner. The happy hours, with half-priced specialty cocktails, offer a nice alternative to the busy Rittenhouse scene, and the latin nights on Saturdays have a great atmosphere with a crowd that's respectful and simply enjoying the music and one another's dancing.
Loved it!!!!. My girlfriend and I were visiting the Philadelphia area when we stumbled onto this lovely place. I truly enjoyed the warm atmosphere and energy. The french toast was really good and I had a really good time. I had no problem with the price or the service, to me everything seemed a little exotic and I loved that. I would definetly recommend the Cafe' to my friends coming to visit the area.
Great food, mediocre service. Had a great meal there tonight. Plaintains, yucca, and black beans were all awesome. Great appetizer, and wonderful meals of pork pot roast and shrimp. Service was friendly, but a little slow. Mohitos were good, sangria was pleasant, and the wine list had good South American varieties. We'll be back.
Disappointing...unfortunately.
After three years of walking Cafe Habana, we finally decided to go in and have dinner. It definatly was not worth the wait. The service was slow and the food was overpriced and less than average. Don't eat the calamari appetizer unless you enjoy freezer burnt dishes.
We would only go back to have the meal of cuban bread and mojitos!
We finally tried it and it was well worth it!. The food was delicious! I had the shrimp with garlic and olive oil and my partner had the pork shoulder. Both were amazing and we will definitely be returning soon. So many amazing flavors on our plates. Highly recommended!
Outstanding. Dined last week-end with friends. The food was excellent, authentic, delicious. Service was very good. Bar was excellent. Mojitas were wonderful and reminiscent of Old Havana. The owner visited every table to ensure that everyone was accommodated. Wonderful experience. We are looking to go back and soon. Ron!
Great Improvement - New Cheff!. I am a regular customer of this nice Cuban spot in center city, and I just find out few weeks ago that a new hispanic cheff came in. He have been changing specials, making hispanic brunch on weekends, and doing a great job improving quality and appearence of the plates. On top of that, almost every thursday they're having life music, such as Jazz, Cuban Son, Flamenco, which gives a very special ambience for a romantic dinner or just to enjoy life a bit. Go to this place promptly and see what I mean by a GREAT CUBAN SPOT!
