girl for girlfriends!!. challenged the bartender to a wrastling match in the alley, went 2 out of 3 falls. put my flannel back on and danced the night away!! Go Beagles!!
cheap drinks and women!.
sisters is the only lesbian bar in philly that is open every day of the week. c'mon, where else can a single lady go on a monday night and not get harassed by some creepy guy trying to pick her up?
the crowd is young on thursday nights. the drink special--$10 cover gets you a bunch of drink tix for the bar--caters to the binge drinking/ partying crowd. the rest of the nights of the week are pretty chill. the dancefloor is one of the biggest i've seen in the city and the djs played our requests.
my friends and i didn't have any issue with staff. our bartender was really cute and friendly. actually, everyone was really cute and friendly. i've been to sisters a bunch of times and have a really great time.
Uhh.. I've been to worse places, and I've definitely been to better. It's a good place to get lost and just drink when you're not looking for anything but intoxication.
Good Lesbian Fun!!. The girls were, I guess you could say, diverse. I was with a bunch of my friends, so, MY GIRLS WERE HOTTIES! The bartenders weren't the nicest, but they did their job. Good music! The overall atmosphere was great, especially if you want to mingle and meet people. I can't wait to go back....I just moved near NY and I would still go to Sister's before any place in NY. GOTTA LOVE PHILLY NO PLACE LIKE IT!!!!!
There's no better place for an out girl's night out than the city's only lesbian nightspot..
Downstairs, pop-art portraits of lesbian icons like k.d. lang, Grace Jones and Marlene Dietrich overlook a central bar, a sit-down restaurant section and a corner stage for live bands and karaoke. Upstairs, mirrored walls and a mirror-backed bar reflect the flashing lights of a small, but very active dance floor. Sisters attracts a diverse female clientele, ranging from buzz-cut college women to glamorous lipstick lesbians to flannel-clad granolas.
My girlfriend was drugged.. My girlfriend and I recently moved to Philadelphia and went to Sisters for the first time. Unfortunately, it was the worst bar experience I've ever had. Someone slipped a Rohypnol into my girlfriend's drink. The beginning of the night was great. However, after our last beer, my girlfriend seemed much more drunk than me, which is unusual, as I'm the lightweight. She insisted that we leave, which we did. It was 12:15, which I recall precisely, as I was kind of irritated to be leaving so soon. I didn't realize at that point how serious the situation was. Shortly after, we were walking on a side street when she passed out on the sidewalk. I was unable to wake her, and I called 911. When the paramedics arrived, she was foaming at the mouth, her pupils were pinpricks and she was completely unresponsive. They were convinced that she'd intentionally taken a narcotic, such as heroin. In the ambulance they gave her a shot of Narcan, which sent her body into shock. Bloodwork and urine tests ruled out the presence of illicit narcotics and indicated the presence of Rohypnol. We were finally able to leave the hospital at 6:30am. Needless to say, she feels awful today, but she's alive and was not violated or robbed. This evening, we called Denise Cohen, the general manager, to inform her of this so that she would be aware of what had happened in her bar. She was extremely dismissive, saying that this is the first report in all the years that Sisters has been open. She alluded that it was in some way our fault for not watching our drinks carefully and encouraged us to come back. We don't believe that it's the fault of the bar, but you'd think the manager would be more concerned. We're two girls and we know we need to be careful. Our drinks never left our hands and we never left each other. We're both 24, and we've had plenty of bar experience. This is something that could happen to anyone at any bar, but the point is, it happened to us at Sisters. We will not be going back.
For for in the life folks!. I went on a Thursday...which is karaoke, eight free drinks (before 11:30pm), sometimes free buffet, $7.00-$10.00 bucks to get in and plenty of people to dance with night. I took my bestfriend who is "homophobic" and she loved it because everyone was just enjoying themselves and being free spirited. The staff were friendly and the drinks were good. I like the fact that there are three floors. Main level has a huge bar and stage, bottom level has a pool table and was not crowed at all when i went down there. I guess not too many people know about it. Upstairs is a hot DJ spinning a good mix of hip-hop, dance, house ect...all night...(they do take requested songs)! I love it!
Thursday Nights Girls. Honestly, Thursday and possibly Saturday nights are the ONLY nights to go to Sisters. Thursday is always more packed than Saturday though unless there happens to be some really special promotion or theme night going on. If you go on any other night you're bound to be disappointed because the only people in there will be the bartenders. The bar staff aren't the nicest bunch and getting a drink can take a very very long time. Plan to stand at the bar waving your cash for a while. The crowd is diverse and leans towards the younger set but, there are always a good number of over 30 ladies there as well.
o.k. for the only game in town. moved to philly from nyc. Have been to sisters twice. Main complaint is the lack of beer selection. Not all lesbians drink crappy Coors and light beers. Would not say that bar maids are super friendly either. Like the upstairs downstairs split and large bar. Not too loud downstairs so you can talk and the music/dance floor is o.k upstairs. The decor is a little 80's - dry ice machine??Overall crowd fairly diverse. Best thing are the bathrooms- plentiful!
Best of Philly. Sisters is the certainly Best of Philly.. the Staff, atmosphere and energy. Simply the best.
