Davio's

Owner

Davio's is a stylish, up-scale northern Italian steakhouse located on the second floor in the historic Provident Bank Building just off of fashionable Rittenhouse Row. While serving their specialities: prime dry-aged steaks, Provimi rib veal chop and cutting-edge Northern Italian Cuisine, they also feature homemade pastas, fresh-baked goods and European cheese plate.

The Scene
The official restaurant of the Club Quarters hotel (and part of a Northeast mini-chain), Davio's occupies a second-story space that once held a bank office. The restaurant has exchanged the staid cubicles for an airy dining room bathed in beige and cream hues and accented by dark hardwood floors. Private party rooms and an outdoor terrace offer additional seating on the penthouse level.

The Food
The northern Italian cuisine is uniformly inventive and consistent, made more enjoyable by the impeccable, knowledgeable service. Calamari frito combines squid with fried strips of onion and fennel and a sweet-mustard sauce; chicken livers are exquisitely sauteed with dried cherries, pine nuts and a balsamic reduction. Entrees, which include fresh pastas, dry-aged steak and a velvety grilled salmon deftly paired with almond risotto, succeed uniformly. Desserts are equally stunning, particularly a pineapple-studded pound cake with homemade coconut ice cream.

I like to go to Davio's for work lunch get togethers. The second floor restaurant is a really nice atmosphere because the restaurant is very spacious, open and light. The food is delicious italian. I highly recommend.

My company booked the top floor of the Davio's building for a corporate event this spring. We did a three course meal with wine pairings, and it was a smash success. The wines were fantastic, as was the food and the service. There's a roof deck where you can have guests mingle outdoors, which is great when the weather's nice. This is a pricey place, but we were quite happy with how they pulled off our event.
