From a potter's field to a prostitutes' park to its present incarnation as a quieter version of Rittenhouse Square.. In Short
The park is bordered by the Penn Mutual Building, The Curtis Center, Locks Gallery, the Athenaeum and two high-end apartment complexes. The block of grass, trees, wooden benches and flags conceals the buried bodies of victims of yellow fever and Revolutionary War soldiers and others who died in the prison which stood across the street (now the edge of Independence Park).

Italian Ice Martini Martini (Yum). This place may be off the beaten path but it is worth the visit. The menu has completely changed and its good. Food is approachable and you actually understand what youre getting. The Steak Frites and the Chicken with parmesan polenta were both to die for. They have an Italian Ice Martini that rocks this world. It just got best of Philly.

If you want to get away from the crowds and eat real food with real people and less ego try this place.
