Always a stellar option for a great brew and a good bite to eat. Nodding Head is the quintessential Philly beer destination: Honest, ambitious without pretense, and always a perfect choice for a few hours...or more.

Wonderful menu for everyone from vegans to those craving a rack of ribs. Beers are strictly in-house and their Grog is great.

Good beer list, love the Berliner! A little loud and hot upstairs. cool old school brewing equipment, knowledgeable and friendly staff
Mixed.
During the day, this place is great. The service is dynamite and very very friendly. At night, this place blows. Avoid it like the plague. The food is slow. The service is rude. And it's ridiculously loud.
The sandwiches are very good and the fries are excellent. The bartender during the day is a pip (that's a compliment). Go for lunch. You won't be dissapointed.
still so good. Its been awhile since i was a regular. I still love their awesome pork sandwich, their strip steak, and try their real muffaletta!!!!! Check out the fries here! Oh so good. And still great service from my peeps. Always love to come back to the 'Head!
nod the hed. Nodding Head is one of my favorite pubs in the city. Tasty beer, great food, reasonable prices. One of the very few pubs that actually brews their own. Usually you can find a table pretty easily, though it gets inexplicably crowded sometimes. Yes, their policy of not letting you sit at the tables unless you're ordering food does suck. And yes, they have an occasional "off" night where the food or service is subpar. But on the whole, after maybe 20+ visits, I like this place.
Nodding my Head "No". I celebrated my friend's birthday with 12 people here a few hours ago. It took forever to be seated. We waited at the overly crowded bar and had 60 Shilling beer. It took the waiter about 30 minutes to get us our drinks. Then we gave our orders and it took even longer to receive them. We had Sample Starters; tasty but very oily. I had Fish and Chips (God Save the Queen!). Everything was overcooked. I was losing my appetite since it took so darn long to get our order. I asked for a drink and didn't receive it until minutes before we left. I wanted to like NHB but the service was the slowest, food was overcooked and greasy, and it's TOO noisy. I'd go here for the bar only. Check out the cute display of nodding heads. Parking is a pain; the nearby parking garage's EXTREMELY expensive.
Excellent Beer. What an awesome place to cap a night on the town! Great beer, friendly bartenders, and a frelaxed atmosphere make this a great place to wind down an evening with friends. And what is cooler than a showcase full of bobbleheads!
Terrible Service!. The food is OK, but the service is horrendous. Once I was there with friends for late night drinks, and we wanted to sit at a table. We were informed that the tables were for people ordering food only. We protested due to the fact that there was NOBODY eating in the restaurant and that every booth was just sitting empty, but to no avail and we actually left and went somewhere else. I've been back since for lunch and received similarly rude service...totally unacceptable.
Top shelf service.
Being a Travel agent it's my job to find the hidden treasures for my clients, and I have definitely found one in Nodding Head!!!
From the time I arrived until the time I left I was treated like a Queen. The staff was not only informative about the wide verity of delicious food and homemade beer, but they were extraordinarily attentive to every need that arose. The light beer has little flavor, however the dark "Grog" is absolutely amazing! Nodding Head is now at the top of my short list of Best Brew Pubs in the Philadelphia area, if not the country.
NOT THE SAME!. I VE BEEN GOING TO SAM ADAMS/NODDING HEAD SINCE IT OPENED.ALWAYS LOVED IT.UNTIL THE OTHER DAY,THE BEER WAS AWFUL,AND WARM.THE RESTAURANT WAS HOT,NO A/C. THE PLACE EVEN LOOKED UNKEPT AND DIRTY.SO I WASNT GOING TO ORDER ANY FOOD.I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED.I CAN ONLY BLAME THE OWNER/MANAGEMENT FOR THIS.
Good for Groups. Went to lunch here with a large group (20+ individuals). The upstairs room was adequate for our group. The food was inexpensive.
Pub food as it SHOULD be. I have never been disappointed here. Sometimes the burgers seem small, but they are outstanding. Entrees (except for the Jambalaya - leave it for the Cajuns to do) have always been good. The Grog is a first rate brew.
