Editorial Review for Nodding Head Brewery and Restaurant – by Lauren McCutcheon

In Short
Despite its eye-catching blue sign and bright red front door, this upstairs brewpub still feels like a secret spot. The dimly lit, narrow stairway delivers after-work patrons into the middle of a lively tavern scene. Start with a steaming pot of mussels--catch cumin-spiced Moroccan style if you can--with a basket of tiny brown fries. Best bet for entrees: grilled salmon with lime butter, hearty vegan polenta with flavorful tomato sauce--aound $10 each.

Nodding Head's homemade brews make beer-lovers swoon: clean-finishing Session, ale infused with lemongrass and ginger, smooth, potent barley wine, malt-like grog.

This place is good for an after shopping beer with friends. Basic bar food with good beer. like most places it can get crazy at night or on the weekends get there early and don't plan on staying long.

Pros: beer

i originally came on Citysearch when someone suggested Nodding Head to me. I read the bad reviews like "arrogant Scottish waiter, too dark, too noisey, too loud, etc..." and thought "this is MY kinda place". great homebrew beer for about $5 a pint, great fries, and a decent atmosphere if you're into a dark beer and a darker bar. one of the better pubs in the city.

Pros: brew/fries

Cons: parking, but its sansom. what do you expect?

Great beers, good fare, speakeasy ambience and a slim bill all add up to a pleasant brewpub.  See the full editorial review.
