Editorial Review for Valanni – by Lauren McCutcheon
In Short
A sparse yet snug space features glossed brick walls, muted blue votives and a consistent smattering of locals at the bar.rtlch Sharers will enjoy vegetarian tapas, baguette slices topped with tapenades, cheeses and veggies. Cuban bread salad and a warm grilled heart of romaine salad stand out, with piquant dressings and pungent Spanish cheeses. Paella is generous--dense saffron rice, tender shellfish, spicy chorizo and one chile-infused chicken leg.

I love Valanni! Great service and the best tapas I've had in Philadelphia. GREAT sangria too, loaded with all kinds of fruit. Definitely try the chicken empanadas and the brie with hazelnuts and cherries is to die for!! With its big, open front windows and generous amount of outdoor seating, Valanni proves as the perfect place for a light summer dinner and a big pitcher of sangria.
Pros: Great food, Great Sangria, Outdoor seating
Cons: For some, the indoor seating may seem somewhat uninviting/dark

I don't usually post but dine out ALOT!!! The previous entry about not being gay (I am not gay for the record) provoked me to write. I go to Valanni like once a month or more and find the staff (bar, waiters/waitresses. hostesses, Management etc.) to be ultra-accommodating and knowledgable. This place gets such a great mix of people because of their accepting, efficient, and friendly customer service. I feel bad for the previous writers" jaded view. RIDICULOUS! Keep up the good work Valanni! By the way - great empanadas and love the new look!
Pros: empanadas, service, friendliness
Cons: Noisy
