Six words: Roasted pork roasted duck noodle soup. I dream about this massive tub of fat-glistening goodness.
Great food! This is one of my favorite places in chinatown. Love the duck wraps and congee. I've liked everything I ordered here lol
The best duck in the city. I've been going to Sang Kee for at least a decade and I never grow tired of ordering their duck. Actually there are a few things on their menu that I could eat over and over again, including the Three Flavor dumpling soup and the stuffed eggplant. The duck is always succulent but not too fatty and there's a nice variety between putting it in the moo shu wraps or having it with the string beans on the side. Their appetizer specials are always tasty but I wish they'd bring back the baby octopus! Their service is usually good and the prices are very reasonable. Sang Kee is so great that even surrounded by so many good Chinese restaurants, I still have trouble convincing myself to go anywhere else when I'm in the area.
Food is good- service is worst in philly!. I got delivery, got the wrong food- they wouldnt give me the correct food after i pleaded and pleaded for it on the phone. the owner of the restaurant deserves to be fired- he was really rude to me and i was thinking about suing this place but i figured it wasnt worth it- ALL I WANT YOU TO KNOW IS, THEIR DELIVERY SERVICE IS REALLY REALLY BAD!!!
Best braised beef, period!. I've been a patron of this restaurant for the longest time, since back when before they even had upstairs seating and when it was still a hidden gem. I consider myself a foodie and I have to say that this place has one of the best braised beef that you can find although they are very well known for their duck. I would highly recommend for anyone who is a fan of braised beef to try their braised beef noodle soup with the flat rice noodles. Their portions are very generous for the family sized dinners. For the vegetarians, I would recommend their garlic eggplant and their vegetarian dumplings (pan fried), it's a tasty treat. Overall, this places makes very tasty noodle soups and decent family size dinner meals (but there are some that aren't extremely impressive - so be sure to ask for recommendations). I currently don't live in Philadelphia but I still come here often!
best chinese in C-Town. this is the place to go for the best chinese food. i have been a loyal customer for over 7 years now and the food is still as good as it was when i first went there. they have the freshest duck i have ever eaten and i have always been greeted and seated faster here than anywhere else. menu is pretty basic in comparison to other rival restaurants, but it's the simple things that make them heads above the rest. only downfall in my mind is is it is away from the main area of chinatown, tucked in the corner off of vine. this could be a good thing or a bad thing.
sick from sang kee. We went to Sang Kee Duck House with high hopes, actually we were contemplating holding a banquet here for our rehearsal dinner. My fiancee and I were both terribly sick by the time we had walked home (about 30 minutes). The duck had tasted okay although not quite up to our standards from Beijing. We thought the other dishes were too greasy and lacked flavor. But we didn't expect to get sick like we did, ugh. I do not recommend this restaurant.
best in philly. i've lived in philly for almost forty years. Back as a grad student, chinese restaurants were the only we could afford. Now (with a bit more money) I am able to eat at any restaurant. Yet, there is nothing I enjoy more than bringing a good bottle of wine and eating at Sang Kee's. The service is quick and friendly. The food is outstanding and the atmosphere is soothing.
Really Good. The food is absolutely fantastic and the service is quick. The staff are really friendly and courteous. I highly recommend you to try their food.
WHAT DO YOU GET FOR $60.00?.
Not much of anything especially flavors. I was in Philadelphia on business staying at The Ritz. The weather was rainy and cold. I wasn't in the mood for room service so I opted for Chinese delivery. I turned to Citysearch to choose that cuisine. This establishment had a rating of 9.4 (how it got that is news to me). I called and asked for delivery. I was told that they do not deliver (even though it was in the delivery section on Citysearch), but had a service I could call. I then called Dining Out I had a very polite operator walk me through the process. It was painless. I was told that the white rice would be a $2.00 surcharge and the delivery charge was increased $.50 due to the price of gas. I said no worries because I was looking forward to really GREAT Chinese food. My order arrived within an escort of hotel security. It was hot as well as well packaged. It lacked only ONE major component, FLAVOR!
The hot and sour soup tasted like the house fried rice that tasted just like the beef w/ eggplant. Which blended right into the pork fried dumplings. The only distinct difference was the texture of the dishes. It wasn't too salty, or spicy which would have been more acceptable. I truly hope this does not represent the quality of Chinese restaurants in Philadelphia. I am also very disappointed with the rating Citysearch has given this establishment. In my opinion it shouldn't have one above a 2. Side note the delivery charge was $5.49 (I think reasonable) and a tip of $5. The total for one entree, fried rice, soup and dumplings $51.08. I forgot the $2.00 white rice! The fortune cookies were free.
Hey Foodfriend.
NOT ONCE, in 25 years have i ever heard the waiters complain about a tip...that's just rediculous.
We started going to the restaurant in Phila, when there was only 2 tables. Also had great food. Larger portions down there for sure.
The one in Wynnewood i still great, smaller portions, but we crave the food all the time. The dumplings and soup are the best anywhere. Always fresh food.
Foodfriend...maybe if you left a larger tip then 10% at restaurants, your waiters would be friendlier :o) Do that at all restaurants? Bet you get great service...not
