Editorial Review for L2 – by Rachel Rogala
In Short
This neighborhood spot's faux unfinished walls, red wood and carpeting, portraits, paperweights and pottery create an antique-shop atmosphere. Hidden behind a wall, the dining room is dimly lit and romantic. Service is efficient and knowledgeable. Standouts include salmon (offered with basic balsamic or hot wasabi), filet, the veggie dish of the day, and buttery-smooth Chilean sea bass with pesto-artichoke topping. Homemade mocha cake or vanilla cheesecake are perfect closers.

As a regular patron of L2, I feel obliged to comment on the nonsense written by dallascarter/djhives (clearly the same person). #1 – The fact that you would categorize L2 as “Anti-Semitic” is completely ridiculous! Anyone who has ever set foot into L2 knows the absurdness of your comment. If you read some of dallascarter/djhives reviews of ANY restaurant in Philadelphia, they are all “Anti-Semitic” in his/her eyes. Instead of slandering restaurants, maybe you should find a therapist and work on some of your personal issues. #2 - I’ve eaten at L2 SEVERAL times and I have always found the food to be delicious! The prices are really reasonable and entrees are not $40 and drinks are not $15. #3 – The immaturity of your writing sickens me. You managed to insult many groups of people by hiding behind a * so you could write offensive words. #4 – If you are so well world-traveled, and are comparing a Philadelphian restaurant to places in New York, London and Italy; then why do you know so much about Applebee’s and TGIFridays? #5 – Simply grow up and find a hobby. Writing slanderous reviews doesn’t seem to be working for you. With all that behind me – I’d like to say that L2 has been a wonderful, consistent hide-away for me for almost 10 years now. The staff is very pleasant and the food is delicious! I still look forward to the L2 salad every time I go there. If you are reading this, please disregard the 2 review under this, he/she clearly just a negative person. Check out L2 for yourself….I doubt that you’ll be disappointed.
Pros: Great Service, Delicious Food

This is one of those bars that sprang up about 4-5 years ago during the housing boom to cater to the fake sheeple that rushed to 'invest' in south philly row homes. This 'restbar' caters to the same asinine people who think 22nd and south street is 42nd street in Manhattan. And by 'restbar' I mean this is NOT a restaurant, and it is NOT a bar - it is, like every other hipster, transplant, and yuppie that found his way to Philadelphia in search of real estate riches - a walking identity crisis. Food is expensive and bland. The chicken parmesan dish was imported all the way from Applebees in Bucks County. The spring roll appetizer was imported from TGI Fridays in Deleware County. Everything else was imported from the Cherry HIll Mall in New Jersey. And you get to pay London prices in Philly! On SOUTH STREET no less! If you are looking for REAL food and drink in Philly, look for a place that has been around longer (ie before the housing 'boom') and that is cheaper. While this may come as a surprise to transplants, philly is a blue collar city - cheap food, and cheap drink is the standard. If you are paying $40 for an entree and $15 for a drink you are being suckered. But then again this place is for the fakes who demand this sort of pretention. So with that said, enjoy sipping your wine outside on the pavement with all the other d*uche-bag that just HAVE to bee seen eating outdoors as if they are in Venice. News-flash its 22nd and south, a homless person just threw up in front of you, a cr*ck add*ct just begged you for $5, it's 95 degrees out and theres no table umbrellas and you are sweating your a*s off, and a SEPTA bus just ej*culated fumes on your $50 Applebee riblettes --- this AINT ITALY!
Pros: stumbling, entering the poorly planned vestibule - oh wait, that's not a pro
Cons: rampant d*uche-baggery
