Although we suspect that people who actually get their holiday shopping done early are really just a myth invented to make the rest of us feel bad, we imagine there may be one or two of you out there who are so sick of your jobs that you'll use any excuse to browse online stores during your work day, even if the holidays are still several long months away. It is for these early birds that we present the following list of local stores that are already stocking up for the holidays.

Wouldn’t it be nice to get in some “me” time while shopping for others? It’s possible at Apothecary Garden, a quaint Chestnut Hill shop that specializes in herbal remedies, essential oils and tinctures of all sorts, some of which can be custom blended to soothe your ailments and your mind. Or rather, the ailments and minds of the people you’re supposed to be buying gifts for.

  2. 2 Piccolini (20)

Get the kids in your life some rad threads at the city’s only designer kids’ outlet, located in Rittenhouse Square. Forget the Sponge Bob onesies, the kids who sport Picolini duds are rocking The Who outfits and bad-a hoodies. And now, thanks to a concept re-tool, almost everything is discounted at an average of 50% off.

Impress your new in-laws by buying them Baccarat crystal at one of the only stores in the city that sells it or get them a gift that’s equally tasteful and elegant, like designer jewelry or luxury linens. The atmosphere at this multi-level boutique is homey yet refined and tasteful as ever. Plus, Lisa’s often on hand to help guide you through the process.

Sure, go ahead and scoff at those pet owners who bring their little animals to therapy, take them to Rittenhouse restaurants and get them dolled up at fancy salons. But don’t you think going to a doggie spa might be fun once in a while? Get them pampered at the Family Pet Resort and go crazy by checking them in to the resort's Vacation Villa, where they can get put to bed (no, not to sleep) with a tummy rub, bedtime story and personal tuck-in.
