24/7 in Philadelphia
Updated: September 10, 2009
For those of us who take Philly’s tongue-in-cheek "6th borough" of New York designation seriously, it's time to start showing that we mean it by becoming another city that never sleeps. Admittedly, once we move beyond all-night diners and cheesesteak slingers, we have some catching up to do in the all-night-long department. But let's act like our over-confident northern neighbors by spotlighting our assets, even if that means we have to brag about our limited number of clubs that stay open past 2am.

Satisfy your steak craving at any time of the day, night or dawn. If you’ve burned out on traditional cheesesteaks during too many previous midnight runs, you can vary it up by ordering--in English, or at least proper Philadelphian--pizza steak sandwiches, Italian hoagies, and roast pork sandwiches. Don't forget to order whiz "wit" or "witout".

Pat's King of Steaks
Read Reviews1237 E Passyunk Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19147 (map)
Order out from the place that claims to have invented steak sandwiches. Here again, be sure to have our order in mind before stepping to the window or, like the infamous soup Nazi of Seinfeld fame, an impatient employee will banish you to the back of the line. Foreigners, remember: specify that you want cheese whiz ("whiz") or don't mention it at all, and add on fried onions or 86 them with a simple "wit" or "witout". You can thank us for this lesson with a free cheesesteak, "whiz wit".

Zee-Bar

One of the hottest lounges to open in recent years, this club keeps its doors open to members until 3am from Wednesday to Sunday nights. Lavished in metallic beads, dropped seating and low lighting strategically placed to highlight seemingly infinite bottles of premium vodka, this spot is designed to encourage hooking up with a new hottie or nuzzling up with an old flame. To join, apply in person with a $20 in hand.
O.N.E. at Rittenhouse
Read Reviews121 S 19th St, Philadelphia, PA 19103 (map)
As they say, membership has its privileges. To play at O.N.E., the private club in the Rittenhouse building formerly occupied by the Mansion, one's written application must be pre-approved by the club’s board. But once you're in, you’re in. For just $30 a year, members can dance, shoot pool, order bottle service, act superior in one of two VIP lounges, or recline in overstuffed leather chairs on any of the historic mansion’s four floors until 3:30 every morning, six days a week. You don't hear much about any celebrities popping in, but hey, once you're here, you're family.
